Okay, so we went from "it has a full mechanical shutter" to EFCS, and now "no physical shutter at all".
Typical Canon cripple hammer to upsell photographers to the R6III.

Well, I guess the missing mechanical shutter counts me out. I'd not thought about rolling shutter in photos.

Would rolling shutter be more apparent at lower shutter speeds?

Looks like (in video) there is no RAW ST Fullframe 60p (only LT) and only one RAW crop mode with a Ninja monitor at 60p? I just bought the C50 and the Super 16mm RAW HQ 150p is a BANGER lol and I can use either Fullframe or Super 35mm RAW ST 60p if the wildlife gets too close.

I don't need this camera, but honestly it seems like a great release for video shooters. Idk why anyone would consider this for photos. Odd to me we're still seeing those complaints.

I'm gonna call it now: In a few years, when the R6 MARK V is released, Canon might be having troubles with the naming of their video-centric cameras.

Yes, I know it's just a small issue, but imagine you are getting into photography in a few years, have no clue about cameras whatsoever and see constantly two different products with the same name (except the MARK, but not everyone uses it) made the same company. I guess thy will solve this in a certain way, but I for my part already hate it. It will be confusing as hell for some at least.

Th camera itself is fine, though I am not sure if there was really that much space between the R6 III and C50 for a even more hybrid camera.

there is no any mechanical shutter, so I think this would not sell as well as R6 III, and it could be a video camera, but it could not support flash, do canon really think that if some one buy this camera just 100% precent for video and 0% percent of photo ? let's see if this will sell well. I will predict that it would not be a good coopetitor of sony and canon will finally realize this

We do wonder if the EOS R6 Mark IV will be the last of the line, the V is going to cause some marketing issues down the road!

So I’ve not had a chance to see much launch stuff yet but I just watched Gordon Laing (Cameralabs) video on the R6V and he mentions that he’s been told by Canon it will gain the ability to use flash in a firmware update soon.

If it’s not a stacked sensor like the R3, and the readout speed of the sensor isn’t that fast. Surely that will be very limited?

Anyone seen this mentioned anywhere else?

If the readout speed is the same as the R6III (13-13.5 ms), then X-sync will be limited to 1/60 or 1/80 s.

that is enough I think, just 1/80 flash could be able for some ordinary situations

In another thread, someone pointed out that the Sony ZV-E10 II has a flash sync speed of 1/30 s.

Absolutely disagree. This is a video-centric camera aimed at videographer/cinematographer/ type people.

Not having a mechanical shutter (a moving part to which can fail eventually) far extends the life of this camera for video work. Remember when people went nuts with intervalometer (timelapse) use, and blew out their shutters?

It’s a video tool for video people. Sucks for people wanting a photo camera - but there are plenty of other options. I do wish Canon would make a dual line with this compact body (replacement for M6II) one aimed at photographers - and one aimed at videographers which they just did perfectly.

For a videographer, having a mechanical shutter is a negative failure point. Don’t get me started on shutter-strike-damage with deep rear manual focus adapted lens protrusions.

Canon has already had trouble with confusing names, if anybody remembers the Canon Powershot D10 released in 2009. (and subsequence D20 & D30). Good ol’ 10D and D10.

Nikon contributes to the confusion pond with the D1 alongside Canon’s 1D. Although, to be fair, Nikon released the D1 before the Canon 1D.

The ZV-E1 does not have a mechanical shutter either.
Neither does the Nikon ZR.

Yes, but for some reason certain people seem to think that Canon is clueless about the ILC market. I mean, it's not like Canon has let that market for 23 years or anything, right?
