Canon Officially Announces the EOS R6 V

“ Remember when people went nuts with intervalometer (timelapse) use, and blew out their shutters?”

Yes! I was stunned to see I had 180k shutter count when my 80D was in for repair (not for the shutter), had it replaced, and learned to use silent shutter for time lapse. Personally I’m hoping for a bare bones finderless, happy to be shutterless, no active cooling R8.5 or R7.5 (APSC) to replace the old M6ii. I’m fine with waiting a few more years. The M62 is still going great, gives me photos I like better than the ones I take with the larger but lighter R8/50_1.8 combo, though the R8/28-70_2.8 is great for walking around as well. So good I’m not sure if the m62 replacement should be full frame or crop. Writing is on the wall though, the EF-M 11-22 lens just died. Sorry for sharing, carry on, I hope the video is great for people

...years ago I purchased a second M62...and a year or so ago I purchased a spare EF-M 11-22.

I use them all the time.

I still don't understand why Canon...oh never mind.

May I ask...how did your 11-22 fail?

Just the lens error message when attached, not associated with a fall or anything, I think it’s probably some internal wiring worn out. I’ve replaced a cracked mount on my 18-150, that was easy and has lasted 3 years, but my understanding is that the lens error on the 11-22 is hard/impossible to fix. I bought a spare m200 to keep the lenses going in case the M6ii died, and that’s now my daughter’s camera, but the M6 keeps chugging, never take out the battery because the internal one has died, but otherwise still a source of delight.

My hope for compact flat top FF ILC had died when I read about the active fan and I saw the pictures.

I wonder if they could have made its screen larger.

Anyway, maybe the R8 Mk II will do the trick, but likely not. If not I'll just get a discounted R8.

If I wasn't in Canon land I might have actually looked into the Nikon ZR. It offers quite the intriguing package together with the also weather sealed 26mm pancake. If the ZR had the Z8 sensor I might have considered jumping ship.
