Trolls aside, this looks very promising. Simply rotating the DPAF pixel split on alternate pixels does not add anything to the pixel count so doesn't get in the way of more MP. That means it could likely show up on the next gen R5 as well as the R1. It also adds a new touch to DPAF RAW files. In a sort of Bayer Grid fashion, I can see how this could be used to increase both horizontal and vertical resolution from a DPAF Raw file. The fact that the basic idea has been around for a while suggests that the holdup has been the development of software (and maybe also adequate processing power) to take the best advantage of the feature.
