Canon USA Price Drops on EOS 5D Mark III & EOS 6D

<p>Feeling the pressure from authorized resellers has probably forced Canon USA to significantly lower MAP (minimum advertised price) prices on the EOS 5D Mark III & EOS 6D. Both of those cameras have dropped a lot in price probably due to currency fluctuations. Beyond the price drops, Canon has also switched the mail-in rebate to an instant rebate and added the EOS 7D Mark II to that. Are these reductions enough to get people away from grey market cameras out there? I’m not sure.</p>

I can't say about the other cameras, but as for the 6D I noticed a +/- $50 slash on the actual price for almost a week now, here in the Philippines.

At first I thought it was just grey units but turns out they're from Canon's store themselves.
Kinda opposite to the article, this time here Canon is actually selling a bit less than the re-sellers.

Mail in rebates don't exist here.

Canon India had dropped the prices of 70D, 5D mk iii a few months back. Its quite surprising it took this long for Canon to reflect the price drop in USA this long.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!...

I see a new camera in my very near future! Just on time, my current 60D (which I'll keep anyways) is starting to need a few things in the cleaning/repair area.

6D refurbs from the Canon Direct Store now cost MORE than new.

I wonder how long that will continue. If I recall correctly, it took months for 5D Mark II refurb prices to drop after they lowered the new price.

Also, now the 5DIII refurbs are only a little less than new.

Crap! One week after I bought the 5DIII/Pixma Pro-100 package for $2549 after a $550 mail-in rebate.

I love the printer and have produced some eye watering images with it after spending a week, half the supplied paper, and a whole lot of ink getting my color management and calibration squared away. But I'm not sure how much I'll actually use it in the long run. And I'd much prefer an instant rebate rather than a mail-in that pays to me as an Amex gift card.

So I would have definitely taken this option if it had been available.

It looks like the Canon Direct Store had a stealth price decrease to get the refurb price below new. It still shows the same "Price drop" but the original price has been lowered a little.

I registered just to inform you that if you bought it within 30 days from Adorama, which I assume you did because I bought the same bundle, then you can email them about the price change. They'll give you 300 dollars store credit that you'll have to use when calling in to order. If you bought it elsewhere, try evoking them about it. Good luck.

In provincial Thailand the price of the 5D III seems to drop every time I go into my local dealer to check to see if the EOS M3 has arrived yet. The 5D III body is now 75,900 Thai Baht (around 2,330 USD at current exchange rates). It's an official dealer price, but I believe only with a local warranty. OK for residents, but maybe not for tourists.

For a long time I wanted this camera and was waiting for the price to drop, however, after using the EOS M system for almost a couple of years now my 40D has just sat gathering dust and I can't see myself going back to a bulky SLR system, despite the speed and AF advantages.
