I'm not holding my breath. Harry, you have yet to deliver on ANYTHING you've promised.

---

I don't sell the stuff ... I just make the CODECs for it!

I am 2/300 right on my predictions so that is a 0.6% prediction correctness rate!

That's Not Totally Bad!

Plus, not to be too persnickety about it, BUT i'ts NOT my job to deliver a camera to you ... HOWEVER... It IS MY JOB to make sure certain advanced feature sets get introduced into the pipeline to make sure PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION PERSONNEL and high-level end-users have their working lives made a tad bit easier when it comes to providing specialty imaging solutions for Commercial and Cinema Production, Pro-Sports/Action Stills Photography, VFX and Scientific Imaging and Visualization.

THESE new imaging solutions noted at the top of this forum WILL provide those advanced imaging solutions!

What WILL DEFINITELY SHOCK YOU though ..... is WHO will be introducing such technology!

This one WILL BE A DOOOOOOOZY!

We DO live in Interesting Times !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now it's off to the Aerodrome to get another lesson in the Bell 429 .... !!!

Not Jeff Bezos from DPReview?
Nope. it is in the news all over the world. Elon Musk is on the mission to fix Australia internet and to revolutionise photography by introducing a Medium Format Sensor 8K/50.3 Megapixel Combined Stills/Video Global Shutter Mirrorless Camera. as per Harry's write up above.

Musk has previously demonstrated the technology does work by using one of the satellites to send a tweet last year. :

Actually, it's a nice combo to bring with yourself on a safari. Could produce the most famous last photos.

Nooooooooo..... Harry, you mixed it up again. It was Elon Musk from Space-X. Don’t you recall?

No! Seriously! It actually IS APPLE !!!

Really! They have their own CMOS imaging chips and New iPhones/iPads with 2/3rds inch and APS-C sensors!

and a really fancy large MF 8K Stills/Video camera system !!!

PLUS there's both a polymer 3D printer coming out AND a 3D metal deposition/laser sintering printer coming out for the new Mac Pros! It's very easy to connect, use and maintain -- It's a quite a step beyond what is offered by others out there! The new multi-colour plastic extrusion media comes in pre-packaged bundles that are hot-swappable and relatively cheap to buy and come in 6-colours for now! (more colours coming soon!)

The 3D-XYZ laser sintering system is 1/20th the price of the major vendors and again, the metal Aluminum Powders, Titanium Powders, Stainless Steel powders (in various strength and corrosion resistance grades for all powders) are all pre-packaged and bought online from Apple store.

Both 3D printing systems have a 300 x 300 x 300 mm objects version, a 500 by 500 by 500 mm objects version, a 750 x 750 x 750 mm objects version and a 1500 by 1500 by 1500 mm objects version so you can choose which cubic size of object you wish to manufacture at the price level of 3D printer you can afford to buy! Apple is going head to head with EVERY 3D printing company out there. This will result in a whole new income stream for 3D printers and metal powders and polymer media!

To power all of this, they bought a small CAD/CAM/FEA software maker and remade its software for their own 3D printing products AND they made it a LOT easier to use and understand but with similar capabilities to CATIA! It does run ONLY on Mac Pros and Macbook Pros though! Think of it as a Final-Cut Pro for 3D Printing!

Apple is now going after the engineering and mechanical design people the way they went after desktop publishing in the 1980's. They're making an ENTIRELY NEW INDUSTRY for the localized manufacturing of high-quality plastic and metal parts AND a 3rd party 3D-design market within the Apple Store allowing you to sell your designs and buy/licence other people's designs !!! You've heard of DTP (Desktop Publishing) ... NOW... you get DDM (Desktop Design and Manufacturing) -- All from APPLE !!!!

SO YEAH! I think this is a bit of a REALLY BIG DEAL !!!

They made the DCI 8K/50.3 Megapixel MF camera because it is ALSO a 3D scanner for the 3D printing systems as are the new large-sensor tablets/smartphones!

...

Guess what! ... IT'S ALL REAL !!!

++++ Really! They have their own CMOS imaging chips and New iPhones/iPads with 2/3rds inch and APS-C sensors!

You have previously reported that Full Frame sensors are coming to mobile phones Very soon.
Now it’s only APS-C sized instead. What Happened there? talk to Apple. We need FF sensor in there phones as soon possible.
Let us know.

I am assuming Canon and Sony ARE working on FF sensors for smartphones (at 6.3 inch screen sizes to make it work) but APPLE has focused on 2/3rds Inch and APS-C sensor super-smartphones and tablets.

It's the OTHER camera systems designed for DDM (Desktop Design and Manufacturing) that is the kicker here, as it is part of a 3D scanning system AND high end digital 3D photography push from Apple which is WHY the IR and RF distance channel is in the RGBA/YCbCrA pixel layout during recording of video and stills on the new MF camera!

While great for high end enthusiast still photography and cinema production, this MF camera is really designed for the engineering and mechanical design side of things in order to get real-world 3D objects into the digital realm for use with the new APPLE branded 3D polymer printers and 3D laser sintering printers. (p.s. they were designed ENTIRELY in-house by Apple! -- The CAD/CAM/FEA software was bought from a 3rd party and upgraded/modded by Apple!)

This will be like the Canon, Epson and HP inkjet printers of old where they made money on selling bucket loads of expensive INK and sold the printer hardware for cheap! Apple will make the REAL MONEY on the Metal Powders and multi-colour polymer media used in 3D printing, and make good money off the Apple 3D Design Store while selling high-end, easy-to-use 3D printers for MUCH MUCH CHEAPER than the competition!

There are FAAAR MORE one-man band engineers, small-to-medium manufacturing and industrial companies and small-to-big design firms who will buy premium-quality Apple 3D printing systems than there are professional and enthusiast photographers who need cameras. Apple is looking at a serious income stream within ONE YEAR of introduction. This gear is NOT CHEAP for consumers but is DEFINITELY INEXPENSIVE for design and manufacturing professionals!

...

YES! This is VERY VERY REAL !!!
