If you could have one body....

The senerio is you can only have one body to do everything from weddings/portraits to sports. What would you choose to be the "do it all work horse"? The three options are the 5D mkIII, used 1Ds mkIII or a used 1D mkIV. I myself am leaning towards the 5D mk III later in the year, but I can't ignore the fact that the "older" 1 series bodies are still fantasic cameras and will inevitably drop in price both new and used when the mythical 1Dx releases. So again, what would be your do it all work horse?

I'd choose a 1D X. In fact, I did choose the 1D X when I preordered it on the first day possible from B&H.

But from your list, I'd pick the 5DIII with the BG-E11.

I have no doubt that the 1Dx trumps the rest and maybe in a year or two I'll be able to justify the purchase, but for now I have to "settle" for less. I was just curious as to what the general consensus was since the three I have listed are getting closer in price.

Its close between the 1D MK IV and the 5D MK III. Finding a good low usage 1D MK IV seems difficult. Prices have shot up to silly levels for new ones.

A good 1D MK IV is going to hold its value for many years.
