Leaked Nikon Z9 II Specifications Surface Ahead of Fall Announcement

The timing would place Nikon’s next flagship squarely in competition with the upcoming Canon EOS R1 and Sony A1 II, both expected to push the boundaries of still and video performance in 2025.
Given that I have had an R1 in my possession since late 2024 and though the a1 II is in short supply some units were delivered earlier in the year, referring to those cameras as 'upcoming' is not really accurate, is it?

It is poor etiquette to quote Nikon Rumors without linking to their article.

There is more: “and with the Canon EOS R1 and Sony A1 II both rumored to hit the $6,299–$6,499 range”.

This is just a re-hash of an old rumor, apparently re-heated to get more clicks. Like most food: the quality does not improve when re-heated.

I mean you say that but chili is often better on the second day!

I too hope they'll recover from past mistakes.
I mean they already did, they've had some of the best bodies on the market for three years. Definitely a match for Sony and Canon. If I were looking to go FF or starting from scratch they'd be at or near the top of the list. Right now for most uses I'd say it's neck and neck between Canon and Nikon, Sony's the one that feels a bit dated at this point.

Z8II could be my jump ship to the Z mount…
They need to shrink it, it's actually larger and heavier than the GFX 100S, and in the same price bracket. The lenses make it even worse. If I'm committing to that much size/weight I'd rather the GFX.

Kinda mystified about the lack of rumors of a Z7 III, that seems like the real R5 competitor...
