How long it usually takes from announement to release?

This isn't quite an announcement, but unless it is more popular than a PS5 I'll have mine in the autumn.

I haven't seen any noticeable difference between the D500 and Z6 FW 3.11. And you can't really get much more f/8.0 AF points and definitely no f/11 AF points with a DSLR, mirrorless AF points get significantly more light hitting them than a DSLR that has to split the light between the viewfinder and AF. I certainly didn't feel like I was missing shots with the Z6 last time I was out.

Should say though, I use the Z6 like I use the D500 with single point and group. Don't have animal eye AF yet, and hope the Z9 brings that along to the same magic level as Canon. If they don't, well I get a better single point and group.

I agree fully with you about the use of teleconverters. However nothing can make me be interested in the Z cameras (handling 3 types of cameras and one adaptor is more enough). If I need more reach (for static shots) and have a car I will bring my R5 and 400 or 500 with teleconverters. But if Nikon makes a D850 replacement I will be seriously interested.

Faster readout with no rolling shutter is a big selling point for stills. I don't want my fox picture spoiled by a slanted pole due to rolling shutter.

It is a good thing for sports cameras. I suspect that it might be like 8K video where everyone says they need it but few actually use it.

I wonder about the cost though, the process of creating a stacked sensor is expensive so its not something to get unless you really need it, or have a tone of money to get the latest thing to sit next to all your Leicas.

It'll be priced with the A1, 1DxIII, and D6. It is a specialist sports and wildlife camera, not a D850/R5 competitor. The stacked sensor in the A1 does give you a blackout free EVF and no rolling shutter issues when shooting and panning. Basically this is a step to the global shutter or it could even have a global shutter. The R1 will likely have a stacked sensor as well or a similar technology to increase sensor readout when in electronic mode.
