Depending on how you define 'mirrorless lenses', their cine lenses feature PL mount versions and their broadcast lenses feature the B4 mount. For photo centric mirrorless lenses, Canon only does EF-M and RF versions.

The PL mount dates back to film cameras with Reflex lenses.
B4 is harder to call.
B4 cameras did have pentaprism at the beginning so even if those cameras did not have a mirror the lenses technically could have been used on SLR cameras.

You may have heard the camera brand "Nikon" be pronounced in different ways by different people in different countries. But what's the official and

Well, it's a Japanese brand so it should be pronounced the way they do it there, imo.

That's a lazy and uninformed answer.

RED was founded in 2005. Given their leadership and name recognition within the industry, I'm sure that if the owners simply wanted to cash out, they would have done so long ago. This is likely far from the first opportunity they've had.

They may have had offers before, but perhaps the owners now feel like it is time to retire?

This is nothing unusual. If you're 75 years old you probably don't have the energy to keep doing it anymore.

Well, it's a Japanese brand so it should be pronounced the way they do it there, imo.

But where is "there"? Call Nikon USA, and they pronounce it differently than they do in Japan. See what I mean?

Petapixel have an interview with a Nikon executive (link): “But since there won’t be a Nikon Z-mount RED camera in the near future and because it wants to keep current RED customers supported, Nikon intends to retain Canon RF lens mounts on its current RED cameras.

“We will maintain the RF mount. A Z-mount red camera will not be available for a while. So you can buy the present line up comfortably,” Oishi says.”

Sure, sure. He may as well have said you can comfortably buy this bridge we’re selling in Baltimore named after a guy who wrote about a flag.

Canon exec in March, 2023: “There are customers who wish to have their camera smaller and lighter, and that demand is still strong. As long as these demands persist in the market, we will continue to support and intend to continue the M system.”

The M line was discontinued 7 months later.

They do not really have a choice.
I would be shocked if the next iteration had them.

That means they are definitely switching to Z-mount.
A "while" is relative and could mean anything.
