Overriding W-E1 to download by USB3 cable?

Is there a way to leave W-E1 in 5DsR body and download through USB3 cable?

When I connect the camera by USB3 to computer (Mac), the EOS utility will open and have the auto-download option available. With W-E1 in place, I only get the Wi-Fi connection option, but no cable connection. So I have to take out the W-E1 to get the camera do download through cable.

Is there an easy work-around to force USB3 download with W-E1 in camera slot?

Not sure there is a good reason for it

IMHO the reason behind it is that is more difficult to have two connections active at the same time, it would bring a bunch of issues about managing concurrent access to the same settings and images - and I guess the camera firmware is not designed to manage that.

The simplest way to avoid it, is to have one connection turn off the other. I agree that having to remove physically the wifi card is a nuisances - being able to select from the menu settings which connection to use would be better.

Exactly! Either/or doesn't sound like rocket science to me.
