Pricing for the 7D Replacement

Judging by the specs, the new body should fall between the $3399 list of the 5D3 and the $1899 of the 6D. I'm guessing a $2599 list. It won't be below the $1899 of the 6D because the 70D is at $1199 and Canon doesn't want to cannibalize those sales. If they use the 5D3/6D ratio, then a new APS-C body would be $2149 which would be great and shouldn't affect 6D sales.

Somewhere between $2149 and $2599 is doable unless the used 1D Mark IV falls below $2000

Come to think of it, we can probably predict the price better than the specs. $2149-$2599 is a hole in Canon's lineup barring price movements and speccing the body between the 5D3 and 1Dx, which is between $4999 and $5499 but that would have to be specced between those 2 bodies, which would be enticing too.

My guestimate would be like 20% up from the initial price of the 7D, so I think we'll land a few bucks below $2000. Usually the exchange rate for serious electronics seem to be 10,00SEK for 1USD (instead of the real 6,98SEK per 1USD), so I won't be surprised if I see it in Swedish shops for 20 000,00 SEK.

I hope it falls inside the $1700-1900 bracket but it will depend on the final specs. The original 7D was selling at launching around $1,600

Yeah, not to mention the 70D came out ($1199) at about the same price as the 60D ($1099) when it launched, so, I dont think you'll see a wild swing in the price on the new 7D. The original launched at $1699, I'd bet somewhere between that and $1999 is your price target.

Especially since there has been no specific rumored spec that makes me think its some crazy departure from the line.

Most of the posts seem to be price comparisons to other EOS bodies, with no regard to the competition.

The Nikon 300s sells for $1,600.

The Sony a77ii, which already has most of the "features", & specs speculated for the 7Dii ( Magnesium, sealed body, 24.3MP, AF at F8, low- 1.9 noise factor at ISO 3200., 79 AF points, etc., sells for $1,100.

In that regard, I'd expect the 7Dii to sell near the original 7D price of $1,700.

If it's significantly more than that, I'll keep my 6D, EF 24-105, & EF 16-35 for landscapes; & trade my two 7D bodies, EF-s 15-85, & 10-22 lenses for a Sony a77ii with their 70-400 for a total price of $3,300.

65 point all cross type AF and 10 fps probably count for at least a 10% price boost. That plus inflation and I'm thinking it will be solidly over $2k, probably between $2100-2300. That's my guess, go ahead and surprise me Canon

$3k for a 1DIV? $2500 seems like more of the going market rate, going by ebay completed listings. Hell, there's a few that sold for <$2k. I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of a used 1DIV and a 7DII were about the same. That's about how it was for used 1DIII vs 7D iirc.
