When they sit still though, and I’m close enough, animal eye AF doesn’t work at distances, it’s pretty good.

tried with my cat walking across the living room today also, changed some settings and it’s just the same in and out of focus . He’s walking veeeery slow, I can’t understand why it won’t work. It can’t find his eye either, head at best.

I’ve used my R5 plus RF85 and RF50 a few times now and wondered if someone shares my experience.

I find shooting ducks that 1/2000s is not nearly enough and the shots have visible motion blur. I haven’t seen this even at 30mp and didn’t think 45 would absolutely need at least 1/4000s with the fastest movements like ducks, kind of limiting...
You're saying that the picture of the duck was taken with an 85mm or 50mm lens at 1/2000th of a second? Unless this is a pet duck, how did you get within 10 feet of the flying duck? I'm struggling to understand how there is any blurring of the wings at a 2000th of a second with an 85mm lens? Or is this a heavily cropped image? While I haven't taken any pictures yet of flying ducks with my 100-500, I would think 1/2000th would be plenty fast.

It’s very easy to get close to them. I can stand next to them, but if I bend down to pet them they waddle away. But they take off from a stone wall I can stand next to. Again, the wings are of no concern, the head is blurred.
