Show your Bird Portraits

I was hoping to see a kingfisher but he wasn’t in his usual haunt, which is somewhat far away and obscured. On way home, I stopped at a pond, and the Kingfisher flew by, stopped for a few seconds and winked at me in acknowledgement as I fired a quick burst.

"...and winked at me in acknowledgement..." - I like that part:)! On my last visit to the nearby botanical garden where I used recently to chase baby Shamas (and posted bunch of photos here) I had pretty interesting encounter. In the beginning (when I started to look after them) they were suspicious and hided, later just posing for me (family with 3 babies). Last time one of the babies come very close so I left my camera on the tripod and went ~2-3 meters back. Since it was the only perch in ~10 meters (radius) around I was expecting it will use the "perch" for funny photo with my cellphone. Instead it came to me and I knelled and took a photo from ~50cm just to show to my daughter my new unexpected friend. I was already able to recognize all 3 of them by face and it seems it worked in both directions (Shamas are pretty smart birds!). Still disappointed it didn't use the perch: I was already preparing the text to post that cellphone photo-fun here:ROFLMAO::(!!!

This Pacific Golden Plover came next to me when I was sitting on a bench at remote park, waiting for my daughter to pick me home. I tried again the "Elepaio trail": plenty of people on the trail and no Elepaio. Anyway, according to my statistics I have to wait another year to see it again:(!
