I've been trying to get a decent shot of a Siskin but they are usually too high up and in the middle of trees. Today, I had better luck, one in their favourite trees, an Alder, eating its seeds. (R5ii 200-800mm).

Oh, NOOO! I was thinking it's just me and maybe 1-2 more (conservative) guys around using medieval cameras ! Very nice shot (and not because you are using "mirror slapper"): good is good whatever "brush" you are using!

Thanks @ISv. I'm sure there are more than a few of us. The most important camera is the one that you have with you.
I've recently transitioned over to my R5m2 as my primary camera, but this day, I grabbed the camera that had the 100-400 mounted for sport on the weekend and was lucky enough to get the shot.

I keep trying to get decent photos from our white-tailed eagle (European relative of the bald eagle).
They don't like to come close. But this time I got a photo from the adult tercel.
He was just running away from two crows an landed on the frozen lake.
This is from a few hundred meters away:
R6m2+800STM+1.4x@1120mm and still almost 1:1 crop.

Nope! Borrowed from a friend. I did use it before last summer when I was taking photos of our peregrines.
Of course optically and aperture limited, but center sharpness is good, it's very lightweight, STM AF better than I thought and with a decent price.

I bought one as WEX had a used one and made a mistake with the price, and it was too cheap not to buy. The price has now come down to that on the grey and used markets, and it is a steal. I found it very good on the R7 but the RF 200-800 is more versatile although no sharper at 800mm. Opticallimits thinks it is a decent lens.
