Show your Bird Portraits

Finally I am getting sunshine on my morning commute again. And what beautiful scenes it does paint!
Also loving the smaller package and longer reach of the R10 compared to the R6, portable and capable.
R10, RF100-400 @f/8 1/350s ISO 1600

I managed to get some shots of another Goldcrest today. He's so small you can hardly see him in the branches. Anything longer than 500mm on the R5 makes it too difficult for me to find and focus on him but the 100-500mm pulls out the detail.

Beautiful photos Alan! My favorite is also the second one but I also agree with you: except for the pose they are of the same quality and I like to see the birds from different angles.
And how can you miss a frame when such cute ball of feathers is in front of you:)

The forecast for today was rain (eventually heavy) and I stayed home. Gloomy and boring until I noticed the Rose-ringed Parakeet in front of my window - showing up from it's hole in Eucalyptus tree. Rushed to take my camera (500mm prime attached, no time to change the lens or take a tripod) and found it already stretching on a thin branch above the nest site. Very soon (minute?) the male came and started feeding the female. I knew the females are incubating and the males are providing food but never payed attention (so common birds...) but today they made the story:D. These are taken from my lanai, ~5 meters from the birds and too close fore 500 mm prime!
Anyway - it's what I got today... The last photo is there just because I like it:)

This is the Bird Portrait thread!
:LOL:We all know how vague is this definition here! I have seen BIF here from some guys (incl. me:ROFLMAO: ) and I like that freedom!
On other hand how (and how often?!) you will get the chance to make a real portrait of your beautiful Golden Crest (I mean alive birds and not intoxicated:ROFLMAO:) and many other tiny birds? My chances up to now are nearly 0!
Thanks for the support anyway! I know some guys prefer more than the bird itself but in this situation it wasn't possible!

Inspired by @ISv here are a couple of portraits from today. I had the whole of the Pochard in frame (R5/500mm) but his eye is so prominent I have cropped to emphasize it. Later on a Great Spotted Woodpecker flew into my garden while I was having tea and I had the R5 set at 1000mm at hand.
