I like the yellow headed black bird, and I’m always surprised just how much food the birds posted on this forum can carry.

Why can't we all live together like these Cormorants, Lapwings, Blackheaded Gulls, Greylags and Terns. R5 + 100-500mm @1000mm.

"Yellow Warbler"

The above images were taken from the same location, I was shooting egrets on the salt pans when I noticed the warbler in the grasses in the foreground. @AlanF, this was the situation that I was referring to about needing to manually focus part-way to get the AF to lock on, as I went back and forth between egrets and warbler.

"American Bittern" – these are quite rare locally and also reclusive, this is only the second one I've seen

Nice shots and great you are posting here. What AF were you using: eyeAF or point focus?

Both. If the R3 grabs the bird's eye I will let it, but I typically start by manually selecting the focus point. WIth the Smart Controller, it's effortless.
