Test of new DPP version 3.11.26.0 - new softness bug??

swampler over in the thread for the New DPP release posted a link to the Canon Canada that has version 3.11.26.0:

I installed it and re-ran my test to see if they fixed the softness issue. While it looks like they might have fixed some of the softness issue, it also looks like they've introduced a new bug. If you compare an image converted with the old version of DPP set to high speed to an image converted with the new version of DPP set to high speed, you can see that the new version is softer then the old version:

Curious what you find when comparing the conversions in high quality of the new DPP to high quality of the old DPP? Have you tested that?

Just updated my posting for you. You can now see a difference layer between them on my site. Flipping between the two images you can see that the new version makes High Quailty better then the old version. But now you have to wonder, since the new version of high speed is softer, is the high quality as sharp as it could be?

Is it possible that a some of the sharpness of the old High Speed version was due to false detail or added sharpening? I mean, if a bug caused some sort of NR to be applied to the High Quality, it is at least conceivable that sharpening was being applied to the High Speed version un-commanded as well.

Or it could be a new bug. Such is life, and I'm not too worried.

Maybe they simply switched high quality and high speed so that high quality setting brought high speed in fact and vice versa? Let's see what comes next

My 5DMKIII images on the latest DPP(3.11.26) still are not as sharp as viewing them with Image Browser. Maybe that's why they haven't posted it on Canon's US website...
