OK. I spoke to the wife for 3.5 minutes-she's having a good day. Then I checked my B&H order once again-it's still on back order---Darn. Now I'm on here. Hmmm, what shall I do next? Oh, I do have a day job-guess I'd better try to put in some work here. Why is it that the time until shipping is taking soooo long! ???

Support local business. Or at least businesses in your own country.

Hmmm. I have never shared a loyalty to my country's economy.

BUT since ordering the 5D3, I've shot a video and a photo shoot on the 7 that will pay a chunk of it off. Which is nice.

I would "support" my local stores more often, but like between bh photo video/adorama and buying a locally, with local tax vs online purchase and free ship, we are looking at almost a $300 difference, and on an already spendy camera, I could reallocate those funds better. Thankfully bhphotovideo and adorama are both in my own country. My inlaws who live in the UK does all their big purchases here in the USA... after the UK markups and tax, it's a few hundred cheaper in comparison.

I've booked Thursday (22nd March) off work to go and hopefully get my 5D3 from Jacobs in Manchester, UK.

Today at work, they phoned me and said they were expecting stock in by that day or the day after (which I also have booked off).

Last week, I put myself down on a list by phoning them, but I didn't have to pay any money or leave any card details. I'm quite impressed; they said they are expecting enough stock in on the first delivery to fulfil my order.

Meanwhile, work is VERY VERY VERY stressful. The job is why I can afford the 5D3. But it comes at a price. Remember, you USA people. we UK suckers are paying about 50% more than you guys for this camera! :-)

Alas, I'm gonna spend my week working hard and getting stressed, and not having much time to drool over my hopefully-soon-to-be-owned 5D3.

At least I know what I'm going to be doing until I get the camera.

My 5D MK II left home today to go to its new owner, its been a great camera, but I've always wanted a even higher low light performance.

I still have my 7D. They use the same batteries.

I have the beta camera raw and beta DNG installed, so I will be able to edit immediately. I will try the new version of DPP. I don't like having the files turned into huge ones, the Cr2 files are big enough.

Curious which seller it's from, if it's from Stoke!
Is that the kit or the body only?

Awaiting body from 1st cameras - know they had kits in from last week but the bodys were coming either late this week or even Monday possibly...

"read and read more about people getting worked up about no updates on the release of 5d mark iii and get worked up" seriously i know canon did a good job releasing it this quick to announcement date but we are insatiable. I just read somewhere that NIKON has already claimed that they have over-run on the pre-order stock and apologized for possible delays on pre-orders worldwide. Now apprehensive if canon comes out with similar verbiage.

I hate you.... Pay no mind, however, that is just the jealousy talking.
I'm checking here every hour or so because no US retailer is giving anyone any sort of information. I'd love to have the camera this week, but I'd even be willing to have the knowledge that I will be receiving it mid April. It's not the wait that's destroying my brain, it's the not knowing.

Ditto! Congrats goldwing_uk, give us some feedback after you get a chance to play with it today.

I cleaned up the garage, installed insulation, and am putting in drywall this weekend. It's perfect for a studio - 22 feet long, 13 foot ceilings, 14 feet wide. To be painted all white... Converted photography studio/man cave. I'll be glad to send pictures (with the new Mark III of course) when I'm done if anyone is interested.

Just a quick suggestion... if your making a photo studio, paint your walls black... That way you wont have light bounce/wrap around/flare by unintentional light bouncing off the white walls uncontrolled. Black walls absorbs the stray light and you can make sure only light that you want to hit your subject/background/etc is present. This becomes even more important with high key shots because light bounces around so much off backgrounds/walls/etc it can easily get out of control if your not careful.
