What ever happened to DO lenses?

Is DO tech dead for Canon? I love how compact my 400mm f4 DO II is, and can’t help wondering what an RF 400mm 2.8 DO would be like…

I played around with the 800mm DO for a bit. It's fun, but I just had no practical use for it. If all you needed was 600 or 800mm, these lenses would be a good (cheap) way to get there. For almost the same, or a tiny bit more (?), I picked up an EF 100-400 IS ii and EF 2x teleconverter. This combo is far more useful when traveling. Yes, I would rather have the RF 100-500, but this combo gets me most of the way there for half the price.

I love my EF 400 DO ii. Its plenty sharp wide open and with the EF 1.4x iii (slightly better if stopped down 1/3 stop), and fine with the EF 2x iii (better stopped down half a stop). Would love an RF version with a lighter chassis (maybe the weight of a Sony 300/2.8) and closer focus, and maybe faster AF (although that's not been a problem for me).
