What's to be expected from Canon in Q4 2013?

The logic of Canon was always launch top models before, and profit greatly from buyers who do not want to wait. In the case of the 70D, the logic is reversed, and some may buy the model theoretically lower because there is no sure 7D mark II is so good it's worth the wait.vlim said:

Its been unusual for major new products being released in Q4. However, in Q1 there are typically a lot of new consumer cameras.
Anything can happen, of course, but since the 4th quarter is the end of the Canon Fiscal year, they do not want to hurt sales of existing models by announcing replacements. Typically, Canon has blow out sales to clear inventory in the 4th quarter and boost the FY bottom line.
Announcements in the 3rd quarter are much more common.

can you find me any still camera bodies out there that can beat canon 70d on live view focusing? there are none as far as i know. however, as far as for still image, you will not find much of different or gap between 60d, 7d and 70d (note: canon 70d focusing with viewfinder is also pretty fast though... i had a chance to use it one time during photo summit.)
how will 7d2 be improved from 7d, i do not know yet . this camera is designed for sport shooters, so i expect more about focusing and frame rate. image IQ and low light capabilities (most of the time, about half of a stop to a stop better in each release as far as i know. as the way i see it, i tend to judge upgrade IQ and low light on RAW file, not JPEG file.) might be not big improvements.

however, from the above given choices, i wish that they are releasing 14-24mm f/2.8...

I glanced at a WEX photographic advert the other day and noticed that Nikon has almost an entire range of 24 MP+ camera's. Even the D3200 priced at £319 has 24.2 MP sensor. The D5200, D7100 and D600 are also 24MP+, as is the 36MP D800. Hopefully Canon will start competing on the Megapixel front soon.

A test is really worthless unless you can first measure the lens AF speed. You might also check it with 3 or 4 different but equivalent lenses. I expect that they did this, why not?
Any lab manager worth his salt would have nixed publication of this test, since it tells us only that the situation with only those two lenses, and its possible that tests would have been different with two USM lenses mounted.

Yes, a Sony $700 USM Motor lens said to be pro grade in all but the name compared to a Canon $200 Consumer grade STM motor lens that is slower. Wow, a really impartial test!!
If they were able to show that a USM Motor on the 70D made no difference in AF speed or accuracy, that would be a different story. Why not put a 17-55mm EF-s on the 70D and see?? (I suspect that they did but don't want to tell)
