When will the release date be for the 1DXI and 5DmkIV?

Serious question here. I have a 5DMKII and while I'd like to move up to a 1D body the 1DX, while amazing doesn't do it for me on pixels. On both it and the 5DMKIII they've gone for frames and focus which I'm less in need of (though a better focus system then the 5D would be nice)

At any rate, how long will I probably have to wait for the next generation bodies?

this "generation" of bodies is still in the process of being released. its hard to say if canon will release something more towards your liking with the remaining bodies that are rumored to be coming this year.

if it doesnt happen this year you are probably looking at 4 years.

I'd say at least 3 years on both. There is a very good chance that they will release another camera that suits your needs well before then, but just may not be part of the 1 or 5 series.

The release date of the 1DXI is fixed, precisely 4 years after the release of the 1DX.

It's the date of the 1DX that can't be pinned down to within 30 days...

Yeah, to be honest I'm not sure I need the pixels, but if I had a pick a feature I'm looking forward to it would be a mega pixel FF. Interesting thought that it might come out sooner, in what? A 3D, or 7D big pixel peeper? I also really want a 1D. If they had at least kept the pixels up at 24mp I'd have jumped.

Three, probably four years? That's a long time to wait, maybe I'll jump on one after the dust settles. Dunno ...

It's in the deep future. Around iPhone 9 time. Maybe you need a platform change. D800?

Yeah, this is exactly my thinking. Even though the 1DX isn't quite what I'm looking for, if I project when the replacement is coming (basically an eternity in technology-time) I figure maybe I should just buy now instead of waiting forever.

Because by then my 5DMKII will be looking pretty darn aged.
