Fisheye Fun
I'm told Canon has been developing an EF-S fisheye for the last couple of years. It'll be 8mm. We could possibly see the lens in the next few months.

Announcing a niche lens along with more mainstream stuff probably makes a lot of sense. What that mainstream stuff is, remains to be seen.

What about the 15mm?
From the same source, there is no plans to replace the EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye.

  1. So buy the 24 1.4? It has more uses than an EF-S and thus higher resale value.

You’re not going to keep a crop body forever.

  2. And you know this how? Canon has not announced that they’ve discontinued the line. Don’t you think they would if they had?

  3. Oops, you’re right. I was thinking of Nikon’s excellent 14-24mm. But as the other poster pointed out, they do have a 12-24mm, too. I would like to see Canon make a match for Nikon’s 14-24mm. I think CR posted a patent a while back for one, so it might be in the works.

  4. Isn’t Canon currently in an Odd Model numbering cycle? So, the next xxD might get called a 55D or a 70D. So there might not be a 60D, but there could be an xxD of some sort.
