Anyone get R6 Mark3 in USA

Oh, I thought you were saying the old style batteries wouldn't fully power and run your new camera. I must have misinterpreted that to mean the battery remaining percentage doesn't read out. You just get bars.

I remember every Canon I've had just showing bars. I look now and then. If it's low, I swap batteries. Easy. And I ain't no engineer either. I totally missed the part where you were talking about the battery meter. You are right. That's a choice. A choice Canon didn't make to your liking. So, crippled.

Back when I shot fashion shows, I'd get 3,000 out of two batteries on. 5D Mark III. Never worried how Canons meter displayed. Sure af doesn't cripple a camera.
blah blah.....what ever! you clearly do not understand the long history of the term "cripple hammer".

I just dumped my 4th body, the spare R5 body, and it had 350,000 clicks on it. The spare!

Battery indications mean something to some of us.

bye!

I’m still getting used to just a completely different experience than I’m used to. There are buttons everywhere! lol. I have 2 different back focusing setup to my liking. My biggest problem right now is trying to understand all the af settings. Right now my one back focusing setup is a whole screen for eye detection if in a hurry. The other back focusing setup is with the expanded area. I really don’t want to use single point anymore. I feel like in 2025 I shouldn’t have to. I’m just trying to get used to the camera actually sticking and me not having to refocus like I used to. It’s a me thing. Just a totally different learning curve going on.

I also think I’m buying the rf70-200 2.8 tonight. I have been going back and forth. I’m just going to do it and figure it out. Cause there is never going to be a good time in my life over the next 6 years and I really want it for my kids while they are playing sports not after they are done and I don’t need it as much. I’m just going to do it. Ok I said it. Just do it.

It’s like ripping a bandaide off.

The camera is pretty sweet though coming from 15 plus year old tech.
Not sure what the cost dif is these days between the first version and the second version these days, but internal zooming ver 2 is so much better to use, if you can, grab that one! It is an amazing lens.

I went out looking for eagles. I saw 5 or 6 but no good shots so I settled on these. Colors are a bit strange becauseView attachment 226968View attachment 226969 there was a red boathouse reflecting in the water.
Colors are OK - even for the female (Hooded Merganser). Great pose for the male! I never got them with the "hood" displayed!

A pair of Cassin's Kingbirds this Thanksgiving morning. Canon R5 and RF200-800mm.
Some morning wing stretching: Enjoy.

Nice! I have no idea where you are taking these photos but combination of Cassin's Kingbird and Casaurina sp. (Australian Iron wood or Australian Pine - that is not Conifer at all...) is telling me Southern California (probably coastal)?

Yep! Be like Nike. Just do it. I've appreciated all of the improved/missing lenses I've purchased. Plus you've got growing reasons to enjoy it now.

R6mkiii questions.

I just received my first mirrorless camera, and I would like to use this thread to post questions as they pop up. I do not have any SD cards at the moment, so I cannot play with the camera too much yet. I do have some micro SD cards and an adapter, but I discovered in the user manual that it was not recommended. Of course, "not recommended" is not the same as "DO NOT USE A MICRO SD", so I was curious if this is really something to not do, even if it is to just have the ability to take a few pics while I am waiting on the regular SD cards to arrive???

Is a ‘Holy Trinity’ of f/2.8 STM Zoom Lenses on the Horizon?

I was using the EF 85 1.4 until the VCM came. I'm going to keep it, I continue to use the EF 200 f/2 (I would buy an RF variant).

I am also seriously considering the EF 800 5.6, I have seen them as low as $3000. The only thing "wrong" with it is it vignettes at 5.6.
The EF 800mm f5.6 is a seriously sharp lens, embarrassing the current RF by some margin. The only issue with it is that it won’t hit H+ in 1st curtain shutter, it’s limited to 8fps unless the cam is in ES.
The EF 200 f2.0 lis has been on my wish list for longer than I care to admit. I’ve nearly bought it so many times!
Im thinking that the RF 24mm f1.4 VCM might be my first RF lens, followed by a RF 50mm f1.2 L. I think they are both exceptional lenses and are missing from my current lens compliment. I think the 50L for my portraiture work is a good fit for me. I love my current my current 35/85 combo, but having a 24/50 option would be nice in tighter spaces.
I can see a RF 70-200 2.8 LIS at some point too, the size / weight and versatility of this type of lens puts it quite high on my wish list.

First with EF 100-400 L II. Second with RF 600 f/11. Both R7.

Hard Night. BLEAH!!!

Pushed one stop from ISO 6400, but the 600 f/11 has enough detail for the noise reduction to work very well. Delightfully light (and sharp) lens, but MFD is a little long for this application. This shot is right at the MFD limit (I had to lean back to get the bird in focus). The upside of f/11 is almost all the bird is in focus 🤣.
