Hello I have the R6 Mark II and can not find anything to show me my Count. I am a windows user btw

What i think is going to happen is a new RC camera that is getting away from the R5 space because lets face it, 8k files are massive and requires a lot of power. Seeing the latest C80 and C400 cameras, i can see Canon pushing some sort of 6k FF stacked sensor that can shoot up to 60fps in internal RAW, no internal ND's, internal cooling like the R5C, no IBIS, clog 2 and 3, CF Express Type B/SD Card slot, cinema menu of course, new AF from the c80/c400 or newer, all in a small form factor and to avoid crossing into C80 and C400 territory. Hopefully even have built in wifi for remote monitoring/control unlike the R5C where you need a $1k battery grip attachment.

Let's see what happens. I'm still hopeful of a R5Cii using 8k RAW/4K SRAW formats to combat the need to film in 8k.

I shoot everything in 12 bit internal raw to get the best possible image. Storage gets purged often but so far has not really been too big of an issue, could just be better to work in post with. I use Davinci Resolve so it's not that bad. Praying for ya'll in Premiere Pro trying to work with the Canon RAW files.

Full frame 24MP has bigger photosites, meaning better low-light performance and less noise, especially beneficial for video.

I used the 35 mm f1.4 lens combined with the R5 Mk2 as a travel combo this past fall around Dublin. The weight was never an issue on a sling bag.

The weight difference between the two 50 mm lenses is 520-160 = 360 grams (0.8 lbs).

I simply waited for the internal 2.8 seeing as i had ef versions and other options but I'm loving the new 70-200Z as well as the new in its own right, 24-105/2.8 Z

Personally, for the Z series, I'd love to see something starting ~15mm with a 3x zoom range, so a 15-50mm, or at least 15-45mm. One of the reasons I love the 24-105 Z is that the extra reach beyond 70mm saves many a lens change. Full frame wider than 15mm is neat but niche. Imho 15mm is wide enough for most common situations and being able to zoom into a good normal focal length would save a good number of lens swaps (and add useful options for zooms in video). I love my 15-35 2.8, but a Z variant that extended the long end to ~50mm would almost certainly have me upgrading.

I haven't used a hand crank to eject film since my old Kodak Pleaser instant camera!

I have one Fujifilm INSTAX camera for each film size (mini/square/wide), but I didn't dive into the EVO product line. The concept is really neat. My equivalent is the standalone INSTAX printer to print digital images from my phone onto their film. The SQ6 and Mini 90 are both modern looking cameras, but their Wide cameras need a lot of help to look and handle better. I'm not sure why the Mini/Square cameras look one way, and the Wide cameras look another way.

The centerpiece of INSTAX in my opinion is their film. The colors are really amazing, especially compared to Polaroid. The wide format in landscape mode isn't to my taste (I prefer Polaroid in this regard), but when shot sideways in portrait mode, the wide format is quite nice.

I've seen it used underwater in a Blue Water/David Attenborough episode on clown fish which was spectactular. Probably <10m depth so a custom housing/port to support it was needed. I recognised it in the last ep "how did they do it/behind the scenes". Was very cool cinematography but didn't realise the pricing!

EF-S 15-85 was a popular lens. It was a decent performer and covered a very useful range. A lot of people (on the net anyways) were hoping for an update to this lens, a mk2 version, but that never materialized.
On the M side, there was the 15-45 as Neuro points out, but this lens has a much more limited zoom range, limiting its utility for many.
I don't recall there being any Sigma 15-something zooms for APSC?

Nothing rational besides feeling that constant extreme temperature changes to a battery would/could implede performance or lifespan. I have absolutely zero science to back it up. I have no desire to be in the extreme cold long enough to actually test the theory.

An update from Mongoia though, R52 batteries in the camera were functionally lasting about 4 hours in -20C to -30C. There was one blip in which the battery died after about two hours, but the camera was turned off and back on and lasted about another 30 minutes.

Outsourcing means manufacturing by a third party. This is not outsourcing.

They are 2 very different beasts. If all the stars align, I prefer the Hassy's output. I prefer the CCD color and the 80mp non-aliased files are biting sharp. But the CCD's inherent limitation, the abysmal AF and speed make shooting with older MF (mine is a H5X with a IQ1-80 and HC lenses) a much more laborious process and they are unforgiving of any mistake you make, while you can depend on a modern mirrorless to nail the focus and give you latitude to tweak exposure in post (I should say brightness).

I love shooting with the Hassy since it's so dumb and mechanical that I know that I can take the credit if an image is good. But I would not suggest one does the same unless they have a good grasp of photography techniques already. Completely different with modern MF (Hassy and Fuji) which is closer to modern mirrorless.

Lenses-wise, it's a toss. The older MF lenses are not as sharp as some RF lenses and nowhere near as fast. On the other side they have a beautiful rendition and I love love the inverted crop factor (0.66)

Actually, I think it's a solid feature. It's less about the price and more about the possibilities it offers. Pro users might already pay for tools like Capture One, which allows overlays for things like magazine covers. So why not pay for something that makes life easier, especially if you're shooting a portrait series, prefer presenting your work on social media, or want to avoid accidentally cropping out important details?

It might not be for me, but I can definitely see its potential.

Overall, 2024 was a solid year for Canon, but the first half was quite slow. Releasing two professional grade FF cameras and releasing two fast 1.4 primes and the internal zooming 70-200 mm f2.8 Z is good enough.

In 2025 and beyond, a nice internal zooming L-series super telephoto lens in the $5-6K range would be nice. Keep the front element at 100 mm so cost can be contained. A 200-500 f5 or 300-700 mm f5-f7 would be nice IMO

I can also say that at least on my r5ii, the sc1 cover is snug enough that I have a hard time seeing it falling off accidentally. That might have just made the whole shoe a little more snug?
