Interested in how you found it better in absolutely every way, they are practically the same and there are many reviews comparing the two.

There seem to be several advantages/disadvantages to either but nothing in the basic functionality is a standout. The AD600 does have some very interesting features/options the Profoto doesn't, the remote head and the ability to use different triggers to get HSS or HS along with the power from the mains options are all good selling points, but basic functionality I haven't seen a standout 'better'.

The power is much more consistent, I get sharp pictures with HSS, it has an insane battery.

BUT, I cancelled my order due to modifiers and second guessing a cheap product, and a big reason was color consistency which was pretty poor...

So I just reordered the Broncolor Siros 800 L and I'll be using the Profoto OCF BD with bron speedring. Feel much better about it.

It's possible you are asking the wrong question. We don't know what Canon's time frame or target release date is, so it's entirely possible that nothing is keeping them from introducing the 6DII. They may be exactly on schedule for all we know.

It really depends on my shooting needs. I have a plethora of camera bags.
If I'm doing landscape work, it's a large Lowepro back pack that can take a lot of kit. So a 8-15 fishy, TSe 17L, 16-35IIL, 24-70L, 70-200 f2.8 LIS II, 100LIS macro, plus filters, water, cleaning gear and extenders...plus 2 camera bodies and rain hoods.
If it's wedding work, I have two bags. A main bag, with all my normal swap outs. I harness up with three cameras, each with a lens and the bag (which I park near by...like under the cake) has my swap outs. My 2nd bag is in the car and that's got the very occasional use lenses, like a Sigma 12-24. It's also got my back up cams and back up lenses. These bags come from the think tank Urban range.
I have a 3rd bag and that's a flash rig. So it's got 2 flashes, stands, remotes, brollies, boxes...every thing I need for a mobile light up. But it's not really a camera bag...it's a flasher bag and it only gets used for the 1st dance, reception dance and if something's gone really wrong with the weather for the formals / portraits.

These small sensors require f/5.6 or faster to avoid diffraction softening. That equates to exposures of 1/800s or faster at ISO 100 on a bright day. You don't need a tripod for that speed with a short focal length lens without IS. And most of these cameras have 4-6 stops of IS. A joy of these modern small cameras is that they free you from the pain of carting around even a small tripod. A tripod might have its uses but it is not a "must".

I'm with sanj on this one...I've heard the expression about those who go out in the midday sun, and it doesn't include photographers. Particularly, 'stunning landscapes' and 'bright days' aren't generally a good match, IMO.

But a Gorillapod would do the trick for a small camera. This one was with a Gorillapod SLR Zoom attached to the railing of one of the Golden Jubilee Bridges over the Thames.

I did all routine maintenance myself, but occasionally there was something that required help. The dealership was out, but there are 4 independent BMW mechanics within a reasonable distance who all have good reputations (of competence and not of customer service), but all had this weird anti-customer customer service attitude. I really looked into this and it wasn't me.
They all knew what to do, but would sometimes do good work and sometimes not. It was completely hit or miss with all of them and they were far enough away that it really got to be a massive pain. I'm meticulous and leave no stone unturned with upkeep so it just got to be too much and finally said, "I'm out."
My new thing is precision maintenance and once hitting 150,000 miles am moving on to another new car.
So it wasn't necessarily mechanical issues or how much they charge, but requiring severe beatings and I just couldn't take it anymore.

the sensors need different readout lane numbers because of fps performance. a dual DIGIC chip is different than a single DIGIC chip reading out the channels as an example.

canon really has never shared the exact same sensor across too many cameras. they always tweak it for specific cameras and there is always ongoing changes to the sensors as governed by what patents clear globally that canon can leverage.

So, my phrase "sharing sensors" is not right. Would it be fair to say that the same basic sensor design could be adapted for use in more than one camera model? (Granting that Canon doesn't tell us very much about its sensor designs.)

fundamentally.. sure.

then again, fundamentally most sensors share the same basic design regardless.

a good example is that the physical SIZE is different between the 80D sensor and the 77D sensor.

Howdy!!

Well, I've shot some pretty dark places...bars in the French Quarter, both for concerts and for a pub crawl I do for charity down here.

I've used the marvels cinestyle in the past and just the plain old standard canon profile, when I didn't feel like trying to grade with Davinci Resolve for faster turn around.

I've not found that the profile really makes "that" much difference. With the 5D3 (I have one)...you really can only pull the footage one way or the other just so much before it begins to fall apart.

I've found that it mostly comes down to how fast your lens is. For some venues where it was damned hear pitch black...I rented the canon 50mm f1.2 lens. I've used my old 85mm 1.8 before too with good results. I've used very WIDE lenses too...I have a Rokinon 14mm 2.8 that really sucks in the light.

I recently got the canon 11-24mm wide angle lens..it is f/4 I think, but with being that wide, you can seem to really suck in light.

So, I'd recommend mostly experimenting with the fastest lenses you possibly can.

You might also look into putting Magic Lantern on your camera and trying to shoot full blown RAW video...which should give you much more leeway.

I plan to experiment with ML soon myself.

Also, what ISO are you running at? I've had to boost it up there a good bit from time to time, and I found that the Neat Video noise reducer helps a LOT with that...I run that filter in Davinci Resolve....really helps clean higher ISO noise up....but the main thing...fast lenses wide open....

Okay, based on the abstract and the flowchart this patent seems absurdly trivial - it's basically "keep the EVF live view going for a while even when the user takes their eye off the EVF and something else (image playback, settings) is displayed on the back LCD, so as not to miss photo opportunities due to a pause when switching back to the EVF". A good idea but definitely should fail the obviousness check.

Where the 6D2 will be better than the 5D3:

• Sensor should be a solid generation better. By far, this is the biggest reason.
• Tilty-flippy touchscreen (if you like those)
• Wifi+GPS
• Smaller and lighter -- better for general 'lugging it around' considerations, hiking, long days of shooting, etc.
• Better AF in LiveView thanks to DPAF
• Possibly it will keep interchangeable focusing screens for manual focus lens use

Where the 5D3 will (probably*) still be better than the 6D2:

• 1/8000 shutter*
• Bigger and heavier = better handling for larger glass
• Dual slot*
• Better AF through the viewfinder (for the most part), more AF tune-ability in menus, dedicated AF joystick
• Far better build quality
• More buttons that let you drive things without digging into menus (DOF preview button, M-Fn up top, etc.)*
• Slightly faster flash sync speed*

*I say probably because we're not sure of the 6D2 specs yet. It may get some of the more 'pro' 5D level goodies added to it.

But don't let the relatively equal number of bullet points mislead you. The sensor + tilty flippy are a really big leg up for the 6D2.

I'm sure I missed something, but this forum -- as always -- will correct me on that.

I did a test a few years ago with a cheap filter vs. no filter on my 400mm f/5.6 lens after not being happy with the sharpness. It was indeed the filter causing the problem. I have since purchased a better filter and haven't had an issue with sharpness since (beyond my own issues, e.g. shaky hands). I've attached a comparison (I edited out the cheap filter brand name, but it likely applies to most or all cheap filters).

I hope they pulled the firmware because they forgot to include C-Log in the latest release. ;D

Because IS inevitably involves both optical and constructional compromises. Were we back in the film days or looking at cheap cameras/lenses then I have no problem with IS. When IS was introduced it was a life saver for photographers!

These days with higher end cameras and lenses I find that IS has more drawbacks than advantages. The impaired AF and tracking is more of a problem for me than learning to hold a lens steady or bumping ISO a little. So I do not like IS.

You probably consider me as mad as a box of Frogs ;D That's absolutely fine! However, if you do not live too far from South Wales I am more than happy to demonstrate the advantages of not using IS and, if we are lucky, introduce you to some other photographers who have benefited from disabling their stabilisers.

I have 4 Canon IS lenses (16-35 F4 L IS, 100-400 Mk2 L IS, 300 F2.8 L IS and 800 F5.6 L IS) - do I turn IS off to make a point or to spite myself? Err - no! I do it because I get better results - unfortunately turning IS off does not help with composition or inspiration - sorry! I have found a marked improvement, especially with moving or unpredictable subjects, so should I not share?
