I mean it's a canned PR answer, they're not going to say anything else at this point. Right now the R3 is basically in the same position as the original R5 (being sold as a cheaper, but slightly less capable, alternative to the current product). Eventually both will be discontinued, probably in 6 months to a year (though there are exceptions like the RP noted above)

I suspect the size difference is due to the updated models for AF, the volleybal/soccer/baseball recognition is bound to take up a lot of space. The second digic chip might also need its own firmware, further driving up the size.

Thanks Koen. I had thought that was so because I know you jump missed updates but I had wondered whether there was a core that was left alone. It's a massive amount extra for the R5ii.

I'm not trying to defend SvO2, but I think what he/she meant is that Canon did not react to Sony immediately, resulting in the internet shifting to Sony-fanboi mode, which he/she views as a big lose for Canon.

Yes, it looks to be market dependent. Canon Australia lists 8 but only 6 with pricing. 4 are APS-C.
Strange that India is not selling the 1DXiii.

I have two original EOS M bodies and the very good EF-M 18-55 + the incredible EF-M 1.4 32 which perform very well for slow moving to static objects/subjects in not too contrasty environments! Video is meh, but for time lapse it has some special features with magic lantern.
M-5X would be the much better camera but at 899 EUR it is more expensive than R10 (888€) and maybe 1/2 R6 ii at the time the R6 iii is introduced.
R10 and R6 are non-comparable but this might be my route to spend the money - I will stay with my EOS Ms but for those in the fuji system or "system changers" this camera looks more than interesting!

It's never good to buy the latest cameras, simply because they will be expensive and the R6III will probably be in the region of $2500. If you wait for Black Friday sale on the Canon page, I bet you can score a refurbished R6II for a whole grand less than that: ~$1500 with full warranty. And rumor is those refurbished cameras are often brand new. Better put your money into lenses, because that's what matters most.
The older R5 is a whopping resolution upgrade which is great for cropping (and basically like always having a 1.5x teleconverter with you), but its AF isn't quite as good as the R6II and it doesn't have some features like 1/16000 shutter, lens breathing correction or pre-shooting buffer.

This is really exciting news for iPhone videographers. Even though I don't have the new iPhone yet, these accessories are definitely tempting me to make the switch. The dual-handheld design and wireless quick-release handles are particularly appealing for stability and efficiency. The inclusion of a magnetic VND filter is also a great touch.

The HERO13 Black certainly has an appealing aesthetic, but I'm actually more intrigued by that $199 HERO model. It could potentially be a fantastic entry-level option for individuals who don't necessarily require all the high-end features and capabilities. I'm quite curious to understand how the performance and feature set of this more affordable HERO camera compares to some of the older GoPro models on the market.

Thank you for the info on R7 and 15-85 compatibility. For the moment I’m still using my 80D with it that replaced the 7D that didn’t age well (dead pixels), but sometimes I wonder whether the le s is not also aging. I really hope a 15-85 or at least 15-60 will come out. The 15 part is key here as makes a huge difference to me with an 18 found on ma y other lenses.

In the mid range of the R series like the R7, the only real advantage over my Nikon D500 is the lightness of the RF telephotos and the bodies and perhaps the eye detection. The lightness was the main reason I changed but otherwise nothing much has improved and the viewfinder is way behind the optical one.

I’d imagine that if a fully charged Li-ion battery drained that fast it’d be on fire. How did you verify it was fully charged and then that it was fully drained?
