I mean it's a canned PR answer, they're not going to say anything else at this point. Right now the R3 is basically in the same position as the original R5 (being sold as a cheaper, but slightly less capable, alternative to the current product). Eventually both will be discontinued, probably in 6 months to a year (though there are exceptions like the RP noted above)Anyone know what would be a better "type of use" for an R3 over an R1 (except cost obviously)?
Thanks Koen. I had thought that was so because I know you jump missed updates but I had wondered whether there was a core that was left alone. It's a massive amount extra for the R5ii.The firmwares are full versions, to be able to skip intermediate versions. I don’t
know if the updater just updates the things that need updating or if it always does a full update.
I suspect the size difference is due to the updated models for AF, the volleybal/soccer/baseball recognition is bound to take up a lot of space. The second digic chip might also need its own firmware, further driving up the size.
I'm not trying to defend SvO2, but I think what he/she meant is that Canon did not react to Sony immediately, resulting in the internet shifting to Sony-fanboi mode, which he/she views as a big lose for Canon. And how did being 'so late' to enter the mirrorless market affect their overall market share? Hmmm...it didn't. Clearly, their continued domination of the camera market as the overall market dropped by 90% and MILCs went from 20% to 80% of the ILC market is strong evidence that Canon makes lots of mistakes. At least in your opinion. Just keep on ignoring the facts and data that reveal your opinion to be baseless.
The R5 II's is fantastic, didn't expect that at all. When I ordered it, I was still convinced I'd regret the OVF.That's why I didn't think about R and RP.
The first gen. viewfinder just didn't work well enough for my photography.
Ah OK. Well that is a healthy camera store. The biggest one near me seems closer to closing than to hosting something like this.![]()

Yes, it looks to be market dependent. Canon Australia lists 8 but only 6 with pricing. 4 are APS-C.It may be market dependant. France has the 2000D, 250D, 4000D, 850D, 90D, 5D Mark IV, 6D Mark II, EOS-1D X for sale.
Then, India for example is still selling the 200D, 90D, 5D Mark IV, 3000D and 1500D.
Thank you.The R6 Mark II will already be a huge upgrade from the 5D Mark II. Probably more features than you even need.
It's never good to buy the latest cameras, simply because they will be expensive and the R6III will probably be in the region of $2500. If you wait for Black Friday sale on the Canon page, I bet you can score a refurbished R6II for a whole grand less than that: ~$1500 with full warranty. And rumor is those refurbished cameras are often brand new. Better put your money into lenses, because that's what matters most.
The older R5 is a whopping resolution upgrade which is great for cropping (and basically like always having a 1.5x teleconverter with you), but its AF isn't quite as good as the R6II and it doesn't have some features like 1/16000 shutter, lens breathing correction or pre-shooting buffer.
Either that’s a very unflattering review or Funniest Typo of the Week:EDIT:
*) found some information it might have some electronics
