Thats what happens when you "play" with it. Use it the way it was supposed to be used. If its missing by that much, its the shooter, not the camera with the problem.

Well, it seems that the little Frenchie was right...

Alors, pour la petite histoire, j'avais pris la peine de pousser plus loin mes investigations, en remontant la trace de l'auteur - qui est lui-même photographe - et de l'éditeur. J'avais donc bien plus que des indices, suite aux courriels envoyés, qu'il s'agissait bien d'un leak.
Mais, bon, vu l'accueil plutôt froid à mon premier post, je n'ai pas jugé nécessaire d'y revenir... pourtant, j'avais été poli, je m'étais même excusé pour mon anglais approximatif.
Voilà, ce n'est pas un troll du vendredi, et j'accepte par avance mon bannissement !

I like to think of it this way. Any camera you get has an initial $250 drop in value when you open the box because now it's used. After that, these things only loose between an additional $250-500 over the next 3 years. You could resell in 3 years for over $2700 unless Canon decides they over priced this model.

If you got a 3 year old mark II 6 months ago at $2300 (which would have been a good price), you loose the same $250 once you open the box because its used, and in 3 years your camera will loose alot of value. A 6 year old Mark II will be worth less than $1000 most likely contributing to over $1000 in lost value.

If you can in any way afford the initial investment (which you can get back any time you want to sell your body and get out of photography), you will loose less money purchasing a new body every 3-4 years when a new model comes out than purchasing a 3-4 year old model at a discount and upgrading that with another 3-4 year old model 3 years later.

I've never even heard of this type of thing. Wont I still end up getting taxed if I use the forwarding company? If I fly somewhere surely I can just pick it up and fly back and leave the box behind.

I don't know about UK, but you can ask that company to mark it as gift and lower declared value by 25%, and if you are willing to discard the box they will do it for you.

if you look at the accessories from canons website, though, it lists the old grip too. It seems as though you can use either the new insanely priced, but joysticked grip, or the old more affordable grip lacking the joystick and M-Fn button.

It seems that some webstore makes a difference between in stock (they have it right now) / pre-order (when your order one camera of the lot that the store is expecting to receive at a fixed date) / and back-order (the store has forward your order to the manufacturer but you have no clue on when the camera will be available)
Maybe B&H does not make a difference between preorder and backorder

Some people in the forum say that they are n°4 in the pre-order list... but they do not say which store...
If anyone had already pre-ordered any gear on B&H, is there a different pre-order status ?

What are people's thoughts?

I'm curious - they've pulled out 801.11n which is good for speed, but also the the built-in Bluetooth compatibility - what could it potentially make a Bluetooth connection to in terms of a GPS device for geo-tagging images?

Whilst a EyeFi card in the SD card looks an option - would the WFT-E7 seriously smoke the Eye-Fi for speed of transfer?

Could it allow wireless tethering? Or just shot transmission?

Just to add here:

The AF-system itself is the same, rated to -2 ev. BUT the whooooole part with the tracking (EOS iTR) and the using all color instead of warm and cool isn't there in the 5d3. This means the AF might hit focus, but if the camera can't meter, it can't shoot. Also it can't track color and faces. You'll get more of the tracking ability of the mk4 in the 5d3, whilst the 1d X will get that fantastically superb tracking I was blown away with when I tried it. It's like a fish on a line, however it moves, you have it hooked. The 1d mk4 was like slipping and had to locate and lure the fish to bite over and over, and the 5d2 was like dipping your line at random places in the water and cross your fingers for anything.

A little disappointment from me cause i couldn't see the actual 5D mark III at the EOS Booth. Cause I think they didn't want to give the hands-on to public instead of invitation only. I just took the brochure. Full Overview/Highlight over the Canon Shanghai Event of 15 Years of Canon China or 5D Mark III Announcement on March 2nd in Shanghai will be uploaded soon.

I think most of their lenses could handle a 45MP sensor. Aren't there some medium format cameras that use Canon lenses?

With my 300m f/4, I have taken good pictures using the 1.4x and 2x, which basically just zooms in on the front part of the lens. I've used the 1.4 with the 17mm TS-E and can use the 16-35mm lens hood then, so it is getting 21mp from mainly the center of the lens, not the edges.

With the price of the 5DMk3 going up so much, currently at about 80% more than the Mk2, the rumour mill is suggesting that both will remain on sale, indeed, both are still shown on the Canon UK site, could this be a testing of the market for a value FF model, a 9D perhaps, sharing either the 18 or 22mpx sensor to finally replace the Mk2 towards the end of the year ? Priced at 7D levels, basic AF and functions.

Been searching and found nothing but 720(or smaller) videos which look to be around 200-400 ISO
That is no comparison whatsoever to a 5DmII.

720 is garbage and used for low quality work.

I want to see a downloadable demo in 1080 at ISO 2000+ to see if it's really that much better at video than a mII.
I am pretty skeptical at this point...especially since there is no 1080 @ 60FPS.

Not that the camera should only be based on the Video, but I would really like to see comparable data to see if it is *really* any better in that department.

If it was priced at $3000(US), I would order 2 right now, but I just can't swallow $3500(US) unless there was a MASSIVE, significant difference in the video quality over the mII or even the more reasonable, $500(US) difference, in the Nikon D800.

The D800 has some pretty decent low light, high ISO, video performance!

It is a selling point that is valid to me as the user and might not reflect others views.

Just hoping someone can point me in the right direction for finding some good 1080 video examples!

Some cameras have home built in, with the 5D mk III you need to have a flash gun in the hotshoe. I don't know why Canon don't include them tbh.

The question is "how" available it will be by the end of March. Will they only start shipping the first few cameras to the pros that got invites to the events or got to play with the pre-production models?

Or, will some copies actually reach the regular retail channel, so some the people that pre-ordered from B&H, Adorama (and their equivalents in other countries) will actually have a chance of getting their cameras?

How long will it be from the time the cameras start shipping until they are able to meet demand, and people can just walk in and buy one?

I don't know - I'm just wondering what people's experience has been in similar situations in the past.
