Sorry for the sarcasm. But no one should buy into a brand new system and expect their preferred lens is around the corder. I have been waiting for a good RF 50, and other f1.8 primes. Others have probably been waiting for f4 zooms. They can't simply release them all at once. Though that would be sweet.

Where is this lens? I been waiting forever and ever. Not 2020?

As I understand it, non-DLO correction data could already be provided by the lens itself, Sigma is doing that for their recent lenses.
RF added lens provided DLO to that.

That doesn’t preclude Canon from baking in data for lenses into the firmware as well.

Thanks for the reply. That's something I've been wondering about during all the discussions here where people are bringing up fps as something of great importance, while it is mostly irrelevant to me. Something in the thread must have made me think of the issue, off-topic though it may be.

In my experience, there are some USM lenses that perform pretty admirably when it comes to autofocus sound performance in video. The new RF 24-105 is using a hybrid USM system, if I recall correctly. This lens is entirely silent for me, so I would say that this hybrid system is working pretty nicely.

If there is a new Canon 28-300mm, it will be an RF lens and probably 24-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM

Unfortunately on a small island you can't always get what you want.
I had picked up what I thought was a UHS-II on my travels and it was ok with 4k on M50 but not the R
but it was UHS-I so explains why i got it at a good price!!
When UHS-II were available the only choice was V90

I agree that this is not looking to spectacular. There seems to be a haze that makes the background look weird to me.

my cheap 70-300 mm nano usm lense wont focus breath at least ,its ok for close ups big insects and flowers.
but there can be copy variation ,readed about review where it did focus breath.
I hope there will be better lenses on future couple weeks and we see

I don't know anything about video, but I don't find it at all surprising that the R5 will use the same Raw file type as the 1Dx III. (If that is what they are assuming.)

I’ve been using the Canon M50 for the last year and a half, and recently added the M6 Mark II to the stable. I know the Canon menus inside and out and have them both configured exactly to my liking and they work well together for continuity. 50/50 for video and photo. True hybrid shooter.

The reason I picked up the Mark II was for the Custom (C1 and C2) settings and being able to switch quickly between 23.98 and 59.94 frame rates and respective shutter speeds of 1/50th and 1/125th. The switch is fairly seamless although I don’t like the fact that you can’t set C1 or C2 up for dedicated video modes. They’re still photography focused with just video added on. Much like the Manual mode. Very annoying. I wish that they would allow a custom setup menu for Custom modes to start from the top as Photography focused or Video focused and go from there. But I digress...

THE MAIN QUESTION: why is it when in M, C1, or C2... and I have the ISO locked at 100... when I hit the record button, there’s still some auto metering/exposure changing happening and I DON’T want that. I’ve gone through the settings several times and I can’t find anything in auto for exposure changes while video recording.

Am I missing something? I don’t mind being humbled if its something real apparent that I’m overlooking.

I’d go to your local camera store and look for an M camera that came in on trade.....

It has 22 elements in 16 groups, including one FLD and four SLD elements. The old version 21 elements in 15 groups, with four SLD elements. Optically the old one was pretty good but with poor IS when it came out. The new one can take a tripod ring, which is a plus over the old. It uses a stepping motor for AF.

Basically ergos only extension, no battery or vertical release. Not sure what the build is like on them but imagine it would be improvement over the R alone from ergos PoV which is pretty small and too small for me to get all my fingers on easy ; skinny fingers but large hand length/width = awkward finding stuff to fit so wasn't sure if such a minor grip extension was worth it.

Yeah I've seen the Meike hand grip extension thing but not got one yet as I've been holding out for a true battery grip.

Just seems so strange that one hasn't appeared yet, and there is now several for the RP from a couple of manufacturers.

Although in saying that, we are now 18 months since the launch of the EOS R and there are only 2 third party lenses available.....

I have been using the 15-45 ( along with other lenses) on my M5 for over 2 years and do a lot of "shoot and run". The only time I collapse the lens is when I need to put it back in the the camera case. So far so good. Even regular zoom lenses changes length when you zoom. No body that I know is concerned about it.

Its for Sony FE and has the same optics as the ATX-i 100mm F2.8 1:1 Macro lens for Canon EF, Nikon F mounts, but is missing the distance window. I'd tend to go with u used Canon 100mm L for a few dollars more, I've been able to use it handheld at very close distances taking advantage of the Canon IS. The $399 price for the Tokina for Canon is reasonable.

Richard Shepherd, pro product marketing senior manager at Canon Europe, has said in interview in Digital Camera World that "And of course, should the market demand it, we are ready to create new EF lenses. But for now, our focus is on RF", so I wouldn't expect any new EF lenses.

Photography equipment sales are shrinking fast. On top of that, cameras & lenses have become so good, most photographers have no need to upgrade. For Canon, the RF mount is a chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure of making photographers buy new cameras and lenses all over again.

Not making an EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM, which Canon is rumored to have developed, is one way to get there.

Serge Ramelli is a passionate guy with great presentation skills; I'm not a big fan of him as a photographer. If you look his 500px profile up, you'll find a number of grungy cityscape photos and a number of average landscapes with heavily (yes, heavily) tilted horizon and sensor dust spots. This guy teach postprocessing and doesn't know how to remove the dust spots and level the horizon up. Compositionally, most of his photos are mediocre at best. If you do a blind review, you'd never tell these photos belong to a guy with 700k subscribers.
However in this bundle his tutorial is about growing the youtube channel, I think he understands how to gain popularity.
I don't find anything interesting for me in this bundle, but there may be some interesting stuff for someone. Just be aware, these days there's lots of free educational stuff on Youtube, you just need to carefully filter out the rubbish content.

I have the 50Art and love it.
My old Tokina 16-50mm F2.8 image quality is OK, and mechanical quality is heavy dutty.
I have no experience with Voigtlander , but the ones i have see is poor in sharpness wide open.

On1 subscriptions are for all of the online learning "how to video" content, not the actual application.

When they introduce ON1 360° there will also be subscriptions for cloud storage.

44.9 MP when you make it 8,208 x 5,472 so both sides of 3:2 still images are divisible by 16 like every other Canon EOS sensor ever made.
