Yes I saw that. I use a B+W and although the cast is fairly consistent through most of the range it does shift a bit when you approach full density. I’m generally working within a range of a stop or two for video and rarely use it at full density so for me it works fine. I’ve seen others that shift quite a bit in the middle of the range which I’d avoid for video. I haven’t used the adaptor version so I can’t say exactly how bad the shift is. I can say it’s managble with the B+W that I use despite a noticeable shift at high density.
Reasonably vs perfectly consistent. Perfectly consistent is going to be unreasonably expensive.

Yeah, as it certainly worked well for Sony's mirrorless move and a good number of other such ventures. One problem investors have with the approach though? It usually doesn't work.

I don't work in finance, but I need to stay informed of business finance (a part anyway) so when it comes to camera companies I just work that aspect into my media/news consumption.

So many great reviewers/personalities out there, but years ago I very quickly realized most of what they say about business operations and finance is just made up, and wrong.

Hard to say unless you A/B/C/D all the corners, but at f/1.8 some softness is to be expected. By f/2.8 it ought to be crisp, edge to edge, yet have little enough DOF to not cover issues.

You're lens is a keeper. The vast majority of refurbs are just returns to stores that get inspected, cleaned, and repackaged. You can get the same thing at (for instance) the DeWalt store, where they have big box store "returns" at crazy prices sometimes.

Funny you should say that.....

I just shot all the storage rooms at work and needed something wider than the 24-70 that we have, so I brought in my 11-16 Tokina, mounted it on a 6D, and shot all the rooms. I kept it at 15 and 16mm and the vignetting was not a problem, Lightroom profile for the lens corrected the bit there was. That said, go any wider and the vignetting was severe!

For obvious reasons, I can not post any work pictures to show the point, but here are two shots from my drive home to illustrate. Both taken with a Tokina 11-16 at F2.8 on a 6D2. These are the out-of-camera images, just resampled to make them fit the forum size limits

I'll first to admit this upgrade is to satisfy my wants not needs. If I can create and charge people $6K for a wedding with a Canon 6D years ago, I learn really quick that gears aren't everything. At the same time, if you have money, why not enjoy life a little

I think I have given examples in other threads, such as cathedral interiors where I don't want the room too dark to see, but I still want the stained glass windows to show detail and rich colors. Another was when I was shooting in the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs late in the afternoon, taking shots of back-lighted rock formations. I also wanted detail and color in the back-lit clouds. Either would at best push Camera RAW's ability to recover highlights and lift shadows to their limits with one shot. Two shots combined and edited in ACR handled both situations with ease.

I'm all about more RF lenses but I think I'll stick with my adapted ef 8-15. The adapter I got allows for drop in filters useful from 8-800mm which is a beautiful thing to me. Now the RF 16-35mm I am eagerly awaiting...

If I go that route, I'll get a G9 and a couple of lenses (for a small travel setup). I just sent back my EOS R rental, have a Sony rental arriving next week, and then 2 weeks after that the S1R arrives for a week.

I agree with you on the 28mm lens, but:

I have asked Canon and Sigma many times, please make a 28mm f 2 (and a fresh 85 f2)
Not a 1.4!!

The Canon 35 f2 is a great lens, sharp as a tack, light and small enough to put in a pocket. It is just a touch too tight.
28mm is a perfect walk around lens.
I have the 28 2.8 IS, it is an ok piece of glass. just ok.
I had the 28mm 1.8, it is a piece of $#@{ glass! Real piece of $#@{.

Why does everything have to be 1.4 or faster?
Canon says they foresee the sales of interchangeable lens cameras falling seriously in the communing years. No wonder when every new lens requires a Sherpa to carry it and second mortgage to finance it!

The basics in photography are being neglected for trophy items.

This path will lead to corporate peril over time!

RF 35 IS is small, cheap, light, and f.18 at that. So they should be able to do something similar for 28 mm. On the RF mount it is the best you can do in terms of a small package anyway.

Each lens was tested at maximum aperture, so one MTF reading is at f2.8 and the other is at f1.4.

Hey, look at that, the company no longer exists. It's almost as if people have predicted this...

Cameras, TVs and mobile are now one company, with Sony deciding to remain the holding company, for now anyway.

Mobile was the worst preforming, by far, followed by cameras that Sony is showing in the black, after write-downs and sell-offs.

The new company, Electronics Products & Solutions (EP&S) will, for now anyway, be held by Sony. Analysts all over the planet are pointing out the old HS&E company, primarily TV's, will now have to float EP&S.

Good news for photographers since production and support should continue, pretty much, with no changes. No outside buy, like a Chinese buyer, so a bullet was dodged there.

As we started all of this: get your business news after camera companies from business sources, not camera/photography reviewers. There's still uncertainty about the company and products, but the next couple years should be fairly stable and predictable.

Be careful though, as cameras from Sony are more precarious in the long term then cameras from a restructured Nikon (have just missed bankruptcy last year), and far, far more precarious than an absolutely rock solid Canon.

The mount is probably the DJI DL mount: diameter 58mm, flange focal distance 16.84mm.

Since the Zenmuse X7 includes a Super35 sensor a 21mm makes sense.

Tossing in my 2c regarding sealing on internal focusing lenses. My 70-200 f2.8 ii got a grain of sand caught in the focusing assembly - I could hear it grinding if I turned the focus ring. I didn't drop it in sand or anything like that, though it briefly shared a bag with a towel that had some sand on it. It actually wasn't a problem during AF, and I hardly ever use MF on that lens, but that sensation of grinding sand was too much to bear, and I ended up getting it repaired.

Thank you for all the responses. I ended picking up a couple of ze lenses for my R and they work perfectly with the focus guides.
