I got mine today and managed to get it to lock up and forget some of my resent settings changes while trying to calibrate the eye tracking.

B&H showed me that they have 158 backorders as of two days ago. They have a shipment of 150 arriving on the 27th, and a second shipment of 150 arriving on the 5th. They were unsure of timing for further shipments. But at least they will have all their back orders/ preorders filled soon.Second allocations hit some stores, not sure how many.
And I saved Euro 600 on the best Black Friday offer by ordering from Panamoz...R6ii is £1560 (=€1870, $1950) including the 20% vat on the grey market. Black Friday price here from Canon or WEX is £2779 - £780 discount = £1999. The pricing is just a joke, a sick one.
I’d definitely preorder the lens…but minimalist? No. My current ‘dynamic duo’ of the 24-105/2.8 and 100-300/2.8 is excellent. The combination of the 28-70/2 and a 70-150/2 would replace that for some indoor events.Anyone else going minimalist with this pair if the RF 70-150mm f/2L materializes?
I don't think so^^... Many Sony lenses are way less heavier then Canon once... sadly. The older Canon's front filter size is 95mm but the Sony is 86mm. Although it's been enough years that technology could have improved, that front element size could be a sign of reduced image quality, right?
Did you find a cooler for the R3? I don't have overheating issues yet, but I am only starting on video.I'm wondering what took so long, I do wish it worked on the R3, but it does not. I do have overheating issues at 4K120p in warmer gyms. I may try another one, but I haven't found anyone that has reviewed the Ulanzi cooler on the R3.
Agreed!I was also a big fan of AF point-linked spot metering on my 1D X, and hoped/presumed it would be included on the R1. I don't see any technical reason why any Canon MILC can't link one of the several hundred/thousand metering zones to the AF point. I would get keeping it a 1-series feature. Maybe there's a technical reason that's beyond me, but if not it's a real d!ck move from Canon, IMO.
Interesting, thanks for the heads up.I got the new 70-200 ver 2 today, first assignment was a protest / march, lost the focus for a few seconds 3 times. So not reserved to the 100-500 as I first thought. Body is heading off to Canon.
I've read that. I know the bit count drops in any other mode than single shot. I would never use this camera in burst mode. You might want to read this post on PetaPixel about the number of bits: https://petapixel.com/2023/10/23/fujifilm-isnt-telling-the-whole-truth-about-the-gfx-100-ii/
Most definitely, the best £2000 my grandad ever spent (60 years ago) was our shack at one of the best snorkelling places around (ok, so Rapid Bay is just around the corner but that's more of a swim from the beach to the good stuff). I wish I'd met the guy to thank him, but he had angina and loved his early-morning fishing so died down there 10 years before I was even born. Anyway, Blobby is due early Jan so if we're lucky with the weather in sMarch it might get its first dunking down there (you can chuck a 2 month old in the ocean yeah?), at the very least it's going to spend most summers down there just like I did as a kid.Quick, unrelated question: Do you live close to the sea? Or are otherwise 100% sure you can/will go diving once the kid is here?
I've been disappointed in the effect of IBIS on EF lenses with builtin-in IS, on my EF100L it made things actually worse! I do like what IBIS does to non-stabilized lenses, even telephoto ones like the EF180L. It might not reduce shake in images, but it does make composing through the viewfinder easier.
To me, that could be the reason why we don't get closer to the actual throughput of CFe 2.0. "DAVISION" (German Youtuber) compared CFe cards (MLC vs pSLC ?? - not 100% sure) and how they impact R5m2 overheating in video mode, with codecs / formats that don't tax the sensor that much. Besides 8K and 4K120P, the pSLC cards would last 20% - 30% longer before the camera would shut down.It isn't clear to me if the reason why Canon etc don't max out the speeds is due to excessive heat being generated.
That’s cutting it real close for Sinterklaasavond! The 30mm and 56mm lenses will be launched on December 5 2024. […]
