Unfortunately, I'm not an iPad owner so I can't actively diagnose the problem. However, if it was me, I would try doing the same thing on another iPad to at least determine if the problem is just that iPad. Depending on how the second iPad is set up, you could determine if it was the iOS version or something else. Good luck! Let us know what you discover or if you fix it.

I bought a new 24-105L with 5D3 some time ago, kept the new lens for new warranty and sold my old one.
So similar situation to you.
As I didn't want to get into such thoughts as you have now, I just made a short comparison of those two and found nothing really different. (But I'm no test chart photographer and no pixel peeper)

The only thing about the new one was the lack of zoom creep
But after a few months even this "problem" was solved and the new is behaving like the old

A little bit more serious:
I think (but do not know) that Canon hasn't changed any big things in the production line of this lens.
I think (but do not know) that QC level is still the same.
So if you haven't got a lemon the performance, built and IQ will be similar to your old lens.

It's designed so you can insert a gelatin filter in there and close the door to hold it in place. There is not much of a ledge to hold the glass I place so likely if the filter was 44mm it may not hold it in and you would need to fabricate a shim to support it. In the case of my lumicon deep sky filter it is exactly 45mm and fits perfectly in the holder.

Hoping some of the other AP filters are the same.

Never used a gel filter, so I never noticed I'll definitely look at this for LP filters though. I've perched my Astronomik APS-C filter in there, but it would sometimes fall into the lens cavity as it wasn't attached by anything.

As I'm not currently in the market for a new camera body, I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to many of the sales that were going on for black Friday and cyber Monday. I've seen it sporadically on my 6D ever since I got the thing—about once every couple of months. It occurs with different lenses (including an adapted lens with only a focus confirmation chip and no other electronics), so the problem is clearly with the body contacts being inadequate.

Ok I now have a better idea of DPAF. So yes it would improve AFMA accuracy if it were enabled, and like you I don't understand why it is not.
As for it not working on all Canon lenses, or any 3rd party lenses that seems ludicrous to me but I guess there may be technical reasons for this and they're not just being bloody minded. :'(

Furthermore DPAF can only be used with Canon lenses and not all of them. Ridiculous, when the concept should be used even with manual lenses.

Do you know if/believe this kind of processing may slow down the Rebels, EOS M etc, Neuro?
I've never looked too much into it but asides from card-write speed and even shooting RAW or Jpeg, I'm sure these cameras lag at times way before their paper-specs would have us know. The SL1 in particular...

That Photos BB-11 and BB-12 might be my 1DS Full frame Sensor with 70-200 mm at least 7-8 years ago.
Yes, With in Next 4-7 Days, I will test the Flash+ DIY Better Beamer AREA COVER and DISTANT from Flash to the Subject too.

Wow. It was my impression as well that the lens barrel would not extend. Judging from the photo, it does. That is one thing that I love about my 70-200 f4: The physical size never changes. It looks like the pump action is gone, anyway. I worked in the motion picture biz and one cameraman I worked with loved the 150-600 which he had converted at an Arri PL mount. As far as the dust sucking thing, it seems to be more of a rumor than anything. A few specks of dust inside a lens should have no effect on the IQ as far as I know. I am looking forward to this lens!

Tanispyre has a good point about alarm clock. In my case, the alarm clock s the phone, which also hosts the Photographers' Ephemeris app, which tells you when to set that alarm.

Of course, if you want to photograph first light or last light, you need a tripod / head (clamp, plate) / remote shutter release system. Also, every photographer should have a polarizer filter.

Really? That's only a 1.25:1 zoom ratio. Unless you're shooting landscapes, you can get a bigger framing difference than that by stepping forwards three or four steps.

I think Canon continue to show excellence in Camera sensors, this helps maintain a lead. The real issue Canon have to address is the processing path from the sensor to the electronics. If they match the approaches and capabilities of the competition then the best sensors, would really shine and probably need 16bit files to do them justice. All the difference in the sensor market for DR and IQ sits in this electronics space. Sensors can and will improve but if you don't manage noise between the sensor and the electronics then you loose both.

I would get really excited about the ADC moving on sensor chip, then these sensor improvements would have a platform to really excel.
