Post your light painting landscapes

Well I will see if this thread goes anywhere. Any type of landscape image (and we can define that very loosely) where you use a flashlight or other light source to paint in a portion of the scene with light.

This was during a Saturday night opening at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, which is actually a native wildlife zoo and botanical garden. But I found this old ore train and used a flashlight (torch if you use British English) to light it up.

Within Forests

I noticed there wasn't a thread dedicated to forest landscapes. The purpose of this thread is to show off your photos where your right there, in a forest, jungle, rainforest, etc. Aspens, Redwoods, Pines...if your surrounded by trees of any kind, it's a forest. ;)

Metabones

Hey CR Team,

I tried searching this in the forums, but couldn't effectively isolate my question.

Metabones speed booster ultra

http://www.metabones.com/products/details/MB_SPEF-E-BM2

Its idea is to increase the amount of light and reduce CA, vignetting, etc blah blah blah

So for a 24-70 2.8, it changes it to a 17-50 F2.

Is this a legitimate accessory to have, especially while travelling so don't need a dedicated wide angle lens.
I am assuming not because otherwise no one would buy 16-35/17-40, but just wondering if anyone had any experience at all with them

Thanks guys & girls

Guessing Game- Canon or Nikon?

With all of this debate recently (always) about which camera sensor is better... canon or nikon (sony)... I thought it would be an interesting exercise to see if people can actually tell which camera brand produced the image. I welcome you to post an image and see if others can tell whether it was canon or nikon. Post some images for the DRones out there.

Over the years I have shot with many cameras and currently use both Canon and Nikon... So, I'll start it off...

Recent L Price Reductions: Thoughts?

Hey everyone,

It's exciting to see L lens prices move downward, though I'm not currently in the market for any of them at the moment. I was curious what people think as to these price reductions. What do you think motivated them? And why now?

Personally, I wonder if the latest third-party options (I'm thinking of Sigma in particular) have taken a noticeable bite out of their sales of particular lenses, and they want to move some of their other L lenses before competing third party models of some of those are released. I admit, though, this doesn't necessarily explain the price reductions for more specialty items such as the TS lenses.

Anyway, interested to hear other's thoughts on this.

Take care!

Which grass is considered greener (do nikonians complain as much as canonians)?

After 76,643,917,265 topics and 54,781,245,232,107,412 posts (and counting) in this forum about the better performance of SoNikon's sensor at base ISO, I was wondering if even SoNikonians sometimes complain, for example,
- about their Lenses price / range
- because they don't have STM lenses or Dual Pixel Autofocus
- etc.

and, in general, if SoNikonians spend more time taking pictures or complaining about their brands.

Any thoughts?

2014 High School Sports

Its that time of year when High School sports here in the U.S. really start to get busy. Here are a few pics from a football game last night. All shot with a 5d Mk III and 70-200 f/2.8L II.

Yongnuo RF-603c triggers

Hello, first post here.
I've got a set of Yongnuo RF-603c triggers. Is there any way I can use them to trigger a remote flash, while maintaining the availability of TTL for the on camera flash? They are obviously not capable of TTL pass through, and using the included remote trigger just fires the shutter. Would a TTL passthrough cable on the camera hotshoe work, and just have the trigger attached to the tripod mount underneath? Or would it work with a PC sync cable set up?
I'm shooting with a 5dmk3, a 600ex-rt as my main flash, and a 430ex my slave.
Thanks for any help.

There are two different packages for canon lens? Does it matter?

Recently I got my new DSLR and started to buy lenses. When I receive my package, I notice there is a difference. The package that I receive is in gray and black, not like the one that I have seen online, which is in white and red. I am curious has anyone else got the same experience? And is there any difference of qualities?

I got the lens from Amazon, so it should be the real canon. I searched the picture of both packages for your review.

This happens to my 50mm 1.4 and 40mm 2.8. Pictures are searched online, just to show the difference.

Thanks in advance.

Canon Price Drops on L Lenses

HTML:

We mentioned a few weeks ago that Canon would be dropping the price on various L lenses around September 1, 2014. Both B&H Photo and Adorama have switched over to the new Canon pricing.

This looks like permanent price drops as we do not see any sort of rebate program, we’ll keep an eye out for one though.

All the price drops and links are after the break.

Differences in color of lcd screens

Hello All,

I have a 5D3 and a 6D...the 6D's back screen seems a lot warmer.

Of course the final images are just fine from both.

I know you shouldn't be counting on it for exact representation of the image, but it would be nice if they were a closer in color temp.

Has anyone ever heard of having your screens calibrated to eliminate the difference?

Thanks...Arnie

Shooting with two cameras and one off camera flash

Hello all,

I have 3 600ex-rt flashes. I want to put two on bodies ( 5D3 and 6D ) and put the third on a light stand.

According to CPS I cannot do this.

They said two master flashes ( the ones on the bodies ) cannot connect to one slave. Meaning to do this, I would need to get a fourth flash so each Master runs it's own slave.

Has anyone found a fix for this? Surely I am not the only one who needs to fire two cameras ( not at the same time ) sharing a slaved flash. I do not want to add pocket wizards or such, just want to see if can be done with what I have.

Thanks for all suggestions.

7DMk II or the 1DMk IV

I have the 5dMkIII with TC 1.4Mk III and 100-400mm, 4.5-5.6L

Thinking of getting the 7DMk II

or

the IDMkIV with 2x TCIII with 400 f5.6/USM

Objective: Best IQ at distance handheld for BIF.

Saw the discussion on the 300mm with TCs and was quite impressed with that combination. Any comments or opinions would be appreciated. Now if handheld is a bad idea, then I can go with a monopod, or gimble or whatever. Hands on experience is a plus.
