1DX Mk II Australian Price

Hi all

Im a bit irritated watching the Aus price of the 1DX mk II. Teds had it for A$9000 but has now changed it to A$9500 because you get a 'bonus' CFast card and reader for 'Free'... Digidirect is still to announce prices but other shops looks to be A$9500 too...

Whats irritating is the Nikon D5 is A$9000 which is cheaper than the Canon even though the Canon is US$500 cheaper?!?!

Anyone know why we are getting ripped so bad?

A$9500 Is about £5000, i would not call that a rip off

its 6999 euro in Irish shops which works out to 10700 aus dollars or 7600 us dollars so mate I have no sympathy for you!!!

It's mainly down to exchange rates, different sales tax and what the market will take...

Sorry Europe gets much higher prices but it doesnt change the fact that the Nikon is $500 US Cheaper but the Canon is $500 AU more expensive. That doesnt make sense...

The price is competitive with most countries. Some countries don't add sales tax or a GST which inflate the figure. At around $0.70 against the USD, you're going to see higher AUD prices on most imported stuff than you've been used to in recent years. Glad I bought my 300 f/2.8is when the AUD was at $1.09! It can be a wildly fluctuating currency.

The AUD was lower than it is now when I bought a 1Ds in 2002. Yikes! There was a price drop from $16k down to $12.5k so I jumped on it.
