Have just done my first job with a 5D3 and for the most part I'm happy with the overall performance. Usually I shoot with 1-Series bodies but the wait for the 1DX finally suffocated me.

5D3 IQ looks fine and is about what I expected. AF is quick & accurate in one shot mode and seems to match my 1D4 in servo mode. Metering is better than any Canon I've ever owned.

I may be a little late into the conversation on this matter, but is there an obvious workaround for the breathtaking decision by Canon to render the selected focus points BLACK? On plenty of subjects your focus point is completely lost. This is a staggering error on Canon's part, crippling workflow in a fast moving dynamic shooting situation. They have set up this camera with a brilliant AF system, yet you frequently lose sight of the selected focus point because it's BLACK!

If this is firmware fixable then Canon would win friends by getting the update out to us ASAP. This alone is reason enough to not cancel my 1DX pre-order and be prepared to take the $$ hit selling the 5D3 when the 1DX eventually ships.
