</strong>There has been nothing new to report on the recent leaked DSLR from Canon. Keep your thoughts and opinions coming though.</p>
<p><strong>Rebel T4i & 70D [CR1]

</strong>I have received little bits of info in regards to the replacement to the T3i and 60D, both will be “addressed” by the time Photokina rolls around (probably a lot sooner). Nothing in regards to specs or direction at this time. There’s a general opinion Canon will announce their mirrorless camera for Photokina in September.</p>
<p>Meanwhile [<a href="http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/cameras/Canon_650D.html">NL</a>] is told that a new Rebel will be announced at CP+</p>

</strong>My [CR3] level source in regards to announcement dates has yet to see one for CP+. Although it has been confirmed that Nikon will announce that day. It may just be a Coolpix day for them though.</p>

This post is a good way to cool down the forum a bit. During the last several days I had the impression that no one of you, keen posters, really sleeps !! You might wake up in the night to check the next rumour or scroll the next several pages of this and that burning topic piling up like wet snow ...
I found the hype buildup a big amusement but still wonder how strong humans believe in their own reality and not in the objective one: we have five shots of new models in very good quality and obviously with permission of the Canon tester (otherwise not a single one would be there) - but hey, does this put the announcement closer ? Nikon has pictured rumors for their 800 for months now but nothing else. Do they keep their secrets better?
At least the questions "should I buy now? ..." disappeared from the forum. Imagine most of the Canon retailers read here too - Do they still sell the current line or do they say - hold on, there are new models around the corner, come back in two weeks. Hmm

So I assume it's safe to say that there will indeed be a delay of about half a year in the Rebel line release?

They've been announced early in the year every year (except one time) in the past, but I guess with the earthquake and everything, production was slowed down a bit.

Definitely some Canon employees in the UK - but i'd guess the world over pops in - what better way to get feed back on their plans and announcements...

Isn't the Rebel line the most likely to *not* be affected - it's a yearly cycle? Way I read it, it's the 70D that's going to be at Photokina, with the 650D by March. Possibly - as the whole 60D lineup would seemingly be affected by where the 7D and 5D MkIII are going to be placed. If the the 7D goes APS-H, the 60D could have more of a difference from the 650D.

One other way of putting it - will Nikon field a 650D alternative this year?

Hardly. It just seems like there's not as many who care more for the 200-400 than a 5D/7D/APS-H upgrade.

News of the Canon 200-400 f/4 with 1.4 extender is 11 months old. No way that's going to get the same buzz on rumor site as stealth photos of an unknown prototype body weeks before a big show in Japan where Nikon D800 is also expected to be revealed...

Nikon has pictured rumors for their 800 for months now but nothing else. Do they keep their secrets better?

Hardly, Nikon was leaking like a sieve last year, whereas we're only getting very grey rumours until a few days before the announcement. The photos of the new Canon camera prototype are the exception and not the rule.

I expect it to be way out of my reach cost wise, and too heavy for me to carry around, a double whammy! While I am interested in it, its not like I would ever buy one unless I could affortd a porter to carry it around for me. Still, its not in the same ball park as the turn of the century photographers who had to carry 160 lbs of 12 X 14 view camera and glass plates up a mountain side to get a great image. They hired local boys for a couple of dollars to carry the gear. It is said that the boys almost always turned down offers of a subsequent job.

And thats probably what needs to happen. So we should all declare on CR that we won't be buying anymore 5d2's .... since we are all waiting fo the Mythical 5D3.

A documentary shot with a 5D MK II is also nominated. Two Oscar nominations for 5D MK II filmed movies is simply amazing. It has opened up the very expensive film making business to talented and creative individuals who cannot afford the high priced equipment. Once a distributor buys the film or agrees to release it, they can run it thru the more costly high end processing to remove jaggies and moire, and make slight re-edits.
