I have said it elsewhere and I am confident that they could easily reprice the 5D2 at $1999 retail price and continue to sell boatloads of them for another year or 2
I expect the new one to come in around $3000 hopefully a bit less
The other benefit canon gain by keeping the 5D2 around as the entry level FF is keeps more people on the hook for the addictive full frame L glass and helps creat more L addicts. I expect they would keep the 5D2 around for this reason alone the fact that they can still make piles of cash just selling the bodies even though they have been superceeded will be pure gravy.
2012 is shaping up to be a very expensive year for photographers
