Love the blog ron. I was gonna drop off a comment about the 70-300 shortly.

I would REALLY like to know if the display they were using for this 4K camera is the ever-suffering, long-delayed sedTV technology. Edit: D'oh, I see it's actually an LCD display. Well then!

I wonder how much space does it take for a single minute of 8k video?
I tried playing 4k videos on my laptop Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 and they're quite choppy,
don't think I'd be able to play 8k videos...
Video tech is going faster than CPU and storage tech...they need to be re-aligned.

On your laptop, it could be any variety of factors holding up the speed. I have had a T7700 Core 2 Duo laptop since 2007, and its graphics processor was a poor performer even at the time (especially with the 1920x1200 resolution of that laptop's display). Hard disks, CPU, GPU are the big ones.

It might not be correct for me to assume that 8K versus 4K causes a linear increase on the required bit transfer rates (four times as much data to be pushed for 8K versus 4K) but for right now the first way to solve this is through multiple fast drives working at once, in RAID or something similar. You're still well short of the data transfer rates needed for 8K video though:

That’s a tremendous data payload, and it requires 16 HD-SDI connections over optical fiber just to move the 7680×4320 frames (59.94p frame rate) from point to point.

Youtube actually supports 4K video right now.
