Sent a link today to a book about photographing with the 2000D.

We knew it was coming, so this isn’t huge news.

I still haven’t received a spec list about the camera. I’m wondering what won’t be in it that’s in the T2i.

For sure, i expect That an announcement is imminent.
Probably together with the 60D.

It's unimaginable that canon will announce 60d Thursday and keep 2000D for Photokina...
I am certain that there will be another announcement after Thursday and before photokina for another DSLR which will be in a higher segment.

We often hear raging rumors before Sony and Nikon make their official announcements. And more often than not, these rumors turn out to be quite accurate.

In contrast, we hardly receive any solid rumors with regards to Canon's upcoming products.

Hopefully, the 60D and 2000D won't be a simple rehash of the 50D and 1000D respectively. Otherwise, Canon will lose their market share big time.

I agree the 60d will require something to make it standout if it is to be a success.

However, so long as the 2000d provides a quality experience, it could be successful if the price is right.

The 2000D is badly needed. After seeing what Nikon have delivered with the D3100 and Sony with their 4 new releases yesterday it seems Canon's entry level cameras are lagging by a country mile.

I haven't been able to recommend a Canon entry level DSLR in a very long time so hopefully things will change before Photokina ;)
