Is The First Canon VCM L Zooming Coming in March?

I’m curious to see if a new 24-70mm L could reduce weight and compete with Nikons offering. The UWA L lenses makes me curious as well. A possible F2 UWA zoom and maybe a UWA Z zoom come to mind. If Canon decides to release a mkii 24-70mm L, I'd imagine they'd release a 15-35mm mkii alongside it.

If it is a VCM, it won't be named Mark II

If it's an f/2,8, I'm quite sure it will weigh less, be more compact, and be at least as good as the one by Nikon! :)

Japanese site DCLife has seen a November 2025 presentation where Canon states that they want to have 100 RF lenses in the medium term. At the end of 2025 the number was 64, including the 7 cinema RF lenses. The post does not have a roadmap or list of lenses.
This will take 4-5 years releasing 6-8 lenses per year.

I love my weather sealed, full-time manual focus override, EF 24-70 f/4 L with close focus for travelling around. I'd seriously consider the upgrade if Canon could tick those boxes once again but for RF. And if it just happened to be 2.8 but in the same price efficiency range as the EF 4 vs EF 2.8 of the same era then so much the better!

I would be excited for any type of 15-35mm successor, vcm or not. Currently a very happy 14-35 mm owner but if they manage to reduce the size and and vinjetting compared to the current 15-35 it would be perfect 👌
