Show your Bird Portraits

A day later: the same spectacled eider (Somateria fischeri), taken on almost the same spot, at almost the same time on the Dutch Island of Texel, with very different light (very foggy).

Same camera and lens: R5 Mk II and RF 200-800mm @ 800mm with a slight crop in post.

Beautiful shot.

I really like the foggy atmosphere.

From today: checked if the "strange Waxbills" are still there. They were and actually I did see one more partially leucistic Waxbill - totally different pattern of the white feathers from that on the photo! Didn't succeed with taking image...
Also Yellow-fronted Canary...

Purple sandpiper (Calidris maritima) feeding:

Sanderlings (Calidris alba) taking a stroll along the floodline:

Both taken this morning on the beach of the Dutch island Texel, R5 MK II + EF 600mm f4 II + 1.4 extender.
Texel looks like a worthwhile trip from the UK. Is it good in Spring and Summer?

The Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan inhabits the high Andean cloud forest from Colombia to Peru. I photographed this individual while birding at Hacienda El Bosque, Colombia, November, 2025. I particularly like this image because of the imminent action and because it displays all aspects of this species' plumage.

Outstanding photo! None of RGB components should complain :)

Yes, Texel is a bird photographers paradise during the breading season, with lots of birds and accessible locations. And are there dragonflies as well. Let me know if you need more information.
Yes please. We haven't travelled much recently and a trip to Holland birdwatching would be fun. I learned my bird photography from nedpix.nl where the mods pulled you apart if you ddn't meet their standards!

Birdpix had a reputation for that. I’ll pm some information to you, might take a bit to gather it.

Only this from today! And for this one I was scolded: "you got so close to the bird!" - you scared it!!! Well, I was actually "zooming" back because the bird was coming closer and closer to me! That women passed in front of my lens and the bird was still there!!!
Some people are ignorant or just a morons?! Any way, only the bird from today...DSC_6910.jpg

I think it's hard to scare a bird that looks like it's covered with blood! I wouldn't want it coming closer to me! Nightmare before Christmas?
I hope there was a monkey nearby to give her some poop for Christmas, but nobody is this lucky. Maybe, she'll get drunk at a holiday party, fall down and knock some sense into her head.

@ISv took appropriate action after “That women passed in front of my lens” so all the corrective measures you propose are no longer applicable.
