There are three new lenses coming on November 2, 2023 from Canon

I'm guessing the mysterious 3rd lens will be the RF 200-500mm f/4L. I'm hoping it's the TS-R 14mm f/4L. The former is not something I'd purchase (sticking with the EF 600/4 II + 1.4x for birds until something meaningfully better comes along). The latter is something I'd preorder immediately.

Shout out to the 35/1.2L. Lol.
Oh man I really hope its a 35mm 1.2 or 1.4 L!

Serious (for change): an f 1,0 is no impossibility, even though, I'd also expect an f 1,2
It would be great if it was a 1.0... but in my mind a 50 or 85 1.0 would make a tad more sense (in the realm of nosensibilityland).

But I'm expecting a 1.2 as well.... A 35mm f/1.2 would complete the "trinity" with the 50 and 85. Also Sony and Nikon have or will have a 35 1.2... so there's limited incentive in one-upping them on a focal length which is not one of the most exciting (some forum dwellers excluded :ROFLMAO: )

I am only interested in a 35mm f1.2L if it has a similar size and weight as the f1.8 STM.

If they can pull that off (perhaps by skipping the ILIS and not prioritizing sharpness wide open), then I might pick one up.

"break the internet"?

So the list of unannounced lenses on the roadmap are:
Canon RF-S 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM => repackage of EF-M = won't break the internet
Canon TS-R 14mm f/4L => with AF would be unique and ultra wide and expensive. Aspirational lens but can't see it breaking the internet
Canon TS-R 24mm f/3.5L => as above but probably cheaper and less unique as the focal length already exists. Can't see it breaking the internet
Canon RF 24mm f/1.4L USM => Sony has one already... can't see it breaking the internet
Canon RF 28mm f/1.4L USM => Sigma has one, Nikon has a AF-S and Sony a f2. Can't see it breaking the internet
Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM => lots waiting with baited breath for it but Sigma has one and Canon the EF f/1.4 and Nikon is rumoured
Canon RF 200-500mm f/4L IS USM => very expensive and probably great but for a limited number of users (but plenty of keyboard warrior commentators)
Canon RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS => rumoured for 2-Nov
Canon RF 500mm f/4L IS USM => could be a redesign or just adding a RF adaptor. Can't see it breaking the internet.

So the only really unique lens would be the TS-R 14/4 with AF being the technological breakthrough. The number of buyers would be small though.
A 200-500/4 would be the RF upgrade of the 200-400/4+TC but not as unique as the 120-300/2.8 IMHO

Weirdly enough, CR has mentioned the Canon RF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM but it isn't on the roadmap and the post doesn't have a CR rating on it.

No RF50/1.4 or wide/fast (<24mm and f1.4 or even f1.8) prime :-(
