Hi Philshoz.
Things you get are a great camera with,
built in wireless flash control, oh you have that,
top display screen for shooting settings, oh you have that,
ISO in 1/3rd stop increments, oh you have that,
dual control wheels instead of cross keys, oh you have that,
3 custom setting positions, oh you have that,
Q menu button, oh you have that, but if you use it now, you probably won't on the 7D!
But seriously what you do get is a single body with all those things you already have included, you get a really nice camera, well laid out controls, much better focusing system including AFMA. A much faster frame rate, a much deeper buffer for holding those fast frames until they are written to CF card.
You loose those silly scene controls and that very useful flip out display!
I know a lot of people find fault with the image, banding in shadows, poor high ISO performance, but these can be corrected easily in post processing, and even if you don't do that the images are really not that bad, family and friends will love them!
I know it may seem I have been a bit ambivalent at the start of the reply, but in all seriousness I love my 7D, especially since I got around to AFMAing my lenses and getting the best out of my Sigma 150-500mm, I still have my 40D as a second body and it still takes nice pictures too.
I'm sure you will enjoy using it and get some great shots.
Cheers Graham.

I am getting a 7D this week (I know a new one is coming but the price here in France was too good to pass on, 760€ delivered)
My question is, what major improvements will I notice compared to my 40D and 600D. 18mps is 18mps but where will the subtle or big changes be seen.
Thanks in advance.
