An internally-zooming 300-800mm F8 would be very interesting in the "Z" series – as a more portable and affordable alternative to the CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9.

Tbh I've been a bit jealous of (the idea of) Sony's 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 given its internal zoom mechanism (which is much preferred for video).

If Canon could put out a Full Frame 300-800 zoom with internal zoom and a servo option, I'd absolutely snap one up for ~$3k or less. (Although I'd prefer a range of 200-600 if I could choose, so as to pick up where the 70-200 leaves off.)

I think a no-EVF Canon video-first camera similar to the Sony ZV-E10 II and Nikon Z30 makes sense.

I solved it with tracking on the AF-ON button and move AF-point with said button. Then when I want single point I move it to where I want with the AF-ON button, as I find it the quickest way to move the AF-point. Then I move my thumb to the *-button which is set to AF-ON «, but set up via Info-button for detailed settings, to enable single point, tracking off and area to single point. Problem solved and at least as quick as with the R5 .

When they added pixel shift to the R5, the first thing I did was take a long exposure of a waterfall - because I like to try and break stuff. The water looked mushy and if you zoomed in, it had a weird herringbone pattern in it.

That was the first and last time I used it - although I’ve been thinking about doing four pixel shift shots and then trying to pano-stitch them to see if I can make Capture One have an aneurysm.

I just recently upgraded to a Mac Studio M2 Pro and it flies compared to my late 2013 intel i7 27" iMac. Unfortunately i could not use the iMac for target display mode, so I picked up the Apple Studio Display.

I'd love to hear your thoughts once you give the M4 a workout.

The kit with body and RF 24-105 f4 is 59€ cheaper than buying body and lens separately. Have fun with your R3, you have waited long enough.

A super fast lens designed for ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY!
This is a category where Canon is definitely lacking behind its rivals. I own the RF 15-35mm, which is an excellent lens that produces high quality images, but for astrophotography f/2.8 is too slow, compared to the best astro-lenses on the market. None of the other lenses Canon produce are truly suitable for astro. Sigma on the other hand has several lenses ideal for astro including the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art as well as their newest dedicated astro-lens, the Sigma 14mm f/1.4 DG DN Art. Unfortunately NONE of these lenses come with an RF mount. The older 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art does come in an EF version, so if you want to use this, you need an EF-RF adaptor adding weight and bulk to your camera. However if you want to use Sigma's newest dedicated asto-lens, the 14mm f/1.4.... well you're out of luck!!

This lens does not come in an EF mount version, and for some unexplainable reason (to me at least), Sigma still hasn't been allowed to produce RF mount lenses (they only just begun producing a few RF-S mount lenses). So PLEASE Canon let Sigma produce an RF mount version of the Sigma 14mm f/1.4 DG DN Art OR release an original Canon RF ASTRO LENS (prime, 14 or 15mm, f/1.8 or faster, no coma). Thank you in advance

They indeed deserve their success, same story with the MF line. A good product, and a logical and well implemented strategy.
And I too was surprised how sharp the 50mm STM is from f/4. Tack sharp corners at f/5,6. Very good value, maybe even more for an APS/C camera?

I just picked up a 1DX MK III for $2,000. Which is insane. There are a lot of deals to be found on EF mount gear. I had been buying EF Primes right before the RF mount came out. Decided to complete the set. I don’t regret that at all. I picked up an R6, and they all work flawlessly on it. I only have one RF mount lens so far, which is the 100mm macro, and I do love that lens. The EF macro could be an odd duck sometimes. But my favorite lens of all so far is the 180mm EF Macro lens. I do love that you can adapt nearly anything to the RF mount. I use Canon FD, FL, EF, R, RF, Rangefinder, and even C mount lenses on my R6. I usually have an FD lens on it more than anything else, and have been using my EF primes on the 1D MK III, and 5DsR. I also got the 5DsR for $600, which is crazy cheap for that camera. I kind of over did it and got into collecting the 1 series bodies. Most at local shops on road trips. I now have the entire film and digital 1 series line. All work great. It’s a lot of fun to take the latest lenses and put them on a 1v and see what they will do, or to put these lenses from the 60s on an R6. I think Canon was really smart when it came to keeping the EF mount from film to digital, and later makeing the RF mount so easily adaptable. I still have an M5, and that’s a great little guy to adapt FD glass to. Compact. Wish they would have kept that line alive just a bit longer. All these cameras, and probably 20% of my favorite shots come from my M5, because I can take it more places with me, and toss it into any bag easily. Fits in my GF’s purse, so she borrows it a lot. I use a c70 a lot too. The RF mount on that has allowed me to be so more creative when it comes to lens choice without having to look at super expensive PL mount lenses. Leica, Zeiss, Nikon, some soviet things, they all fit with the right adapter. Once I had the lenses I ended up picking up an F1 and a T90 as well. It can be addicting.. But I’m going to do a full review of the entire Canon flagship lineup from the first F1 all the way through the R1. Been rotating through them at zoos and events at the moment.

Glad I didn't succumb to the temptation. These days I do not have many chances to use my gear anyway so it would be a waste. Plus my R5 is doing fine thank you

I think you should try changing some of your settings to make the camera behave the way you want. I would go to the Magenta AF menu and on Page 1 turn off Subject Tracking. This will make it so when you activate the autofocus system it just focuses where you have your focus point. Rather than starting there and jumping to whatever the camera thinks might be your subject. Once you have done that you need to go the orange camera menu and to page four where you can customize the buttons. There is an option called "Start/Stop tracking" that is available on some of the buttons. Put it on a button you find comfortable to use. For example on my camera I have autofocus activation on the shutter (no back button focus for me) and on the AF-On button I placed the "Start/Stop tracking." So now I activate focus by half pressing the shutter and holding. I follow the player and move my focus point on them and then I can lock onto them by pressing the AF-On button which is set to "Start/Stop tracking." By doing it this way the tracking will always activate on whatever your focus point is aimed at. It's not going to jump to anything in the vicinity. You'll also find that all those settings in the AF menu on page 2 with the different cases and the ability to adjust the tracking sensitivity. When using "Start/Stop tracking" you really see how those come into play on how sticky you can make that tracking once it's locked on to something.

I should add, the AF is definitely better than the R5/6. Faster and stickier is how I would describe it. There are many features I have not used yet, so I'm sure it will just get better with time.

I spoke once in a conference in Melbourne and live outside Seattle, Washington in the US. It took literally over 24 hours travel time from my house to my hotel.

To be fair, I had to fly Seattle->Los Angeles then Los Angeles->Sydney then Sydney->Melbourne.

Keep in mind that the LP-E6P is designed to be able to discharged twice as fast as the LP-E6NH, so a much worse battery life is expected.

Pre-capture is the thing that impacts battery life on mine the most, on a busy outing it drains a battery fully in about 2 hours.

Sirui is going to announce their first autofocus full-frame lens on October 25. The lens will be an f/1.4, but the focal length is not yet known. Sirui currently makes autofocus lenses for APS-C, but not for the RF mount as of yet. They are all an impressive f/1.2. They are also at or below

How about pixel binning, focus stacking or multiple iso's in one take? Aren't the new possibilities endless with the processing speed of today and a high res Q-/DPAF sensor. No need for an AA filter, or some dynamic filters, like ND.
