Yes, as a potential buyer I'd be interested to hear your thoughts as well.

Mine, too.neuroanatomist said:My first reaction was to check the calendar...
And this was my second thought (maybe numbers differing a little)Eldar said:And since it is DxO, it probably measures in at a DR of 16.6 and a total score of 96![]()

Hmmm ... This thread has got me thinking. Maybe I should put the Sony RX100 up for sale.

As I told before my only concern is it will be too tight on a crop, but I think this is my choice. I will try to find a good deal next week when I'll travel to England. At around 400GBP it is 75GBP cheaper that I can get it here (Israel) so it seems like a good deal to me.
Thanks!
I have used the 100-400II with 5D3 and I like it very much. It is excellent fully open and when closed 2/3 of a stop with a 1.4XIII. It also focuses fast. What I do not like so much is the reverse use of rings. It makes you forget to zoom in after a needed zoom out (at least this has happened to me). Overall I think you will like it a lot.East Wind Photography said:d4mike said:Thanks, East Wind.
I shoot RAW all of the time, I should afma my version I 100-400, I just wanted to make sure the 7DII is set up proper before I head down that road so I can tell if there was any change.
I've been reading a bit on Arthur Morris's blog and here as well on how to set up a 7DII. I'm thinking it may all come down to new glass as it seems most people either use the 100-400 IS II or a faster prime.
Honestly I never liked the original 100-400. I tried two copies and both wide open were giving soft images and some coma which greatly affected the AF response. At the time I opted for the 70-200 mkiiwith 1.4 extender. I now use the 300mm II and 600mm I.
I haven't tried the 100-400 mkii but I also hear it's much better than the version 1. Maybe rent one for a couple of days and see how it works for you.
StudentOfLight said:Yes, well demonstrated.privatebydesign said:neuroanatomist said:privatebydesign said:Here are two shots, camera is set exactly the same for both at 11mm on FF. back of SUV is around 6m, the blue circle is a cap off a peanut jar and is a few inches from the lens, they are both distorted the same.
A very effective demonstration.
Either StudentOfLight needs to study a bit more, or the problem is that spare tires and peanut jar caps aren't people.![]()

I apologise LJ, I was wrong. The effect is still there at larger distances.
If the subject is smaller then the problem is still there just smaller. Attached is a 100% crop picture of me taken 8m from a wall with the Samyang 14mm, me at the edge of frame. I am looking (quite unambiguously) fat-in-the-head. :-[
