Those who love Sony will be drooling over the tech. A vlogger with any sense at all realizes that you can vlog without all that tech and use pretty much the simplest camera. That's my opinion anyway. Apologies to all those vloggers who think they are the next Spielberg.

You might try saving your settings to a SD card and then installing them from the card when you use the lens.

Upgraded to 1.0.3.1 this evening. Will go out tomorrow if it doesn't rain. While I am not a Netfix content creator, the bump in DR when shooting cLog3 in XF-AVC and mp4 is welcome. I mentioned elsewhere that the certification was the "silver lining" of this update.

They go to "Final Sale" status until supply runs out and then the status changes to "Discontinued".
However, you are correct in that internally "Final Sale" is discontinued.

The camera was released in July 2022 so it's well within the most minimal of period warranties of 1 year. If it's a manufacturing fault, then in the EU, the manufacturer is responsible for 6 years. It's their legal obligation everywhere to fix it.

Pixel shift is supposed to lock the IBIS in place before it starts shooting, if it shakes something is wrong. You can try removing the battery for an hour or so, but if it persists, I'd start looking at getting it repaired under warranty.

FWIW, the only thing I find useful about the R3 update is compatibility with the flash that I ordered long ago, that it will still be months before I actually receive.

Canon could quite easily make cameras like the ZV series, The FX3, and FX30.
The question is whether they would or should.
The R8 still seems like a better vlogging camera than the ZV-E1 even though it lacks IBIS.
Although, the ZV-E1 does have some nice new features.
The R50 seems like a better camera than the ZV-E10 in pretty much every regard.
The R5 C and FX3 are very different cameras.
They are both good and bad at different things.
Canon has nothing like the FX30.

No, I have several (more actually) bodies that I use rotationally. Be it Full Frame ( 5diii, 6d/6dii) for shallow depth of field, Crop (7d/7dii,80d/70d) to extend the reach. Smaller Crop (100d/200d) for lighter carry. Vintage DSLR,s (40d, 50d, 5dc, 1div) for their sensor interpretations.
More recently the M bodies and lastly the RP.
The thought of micro adjusting all for a single lens choice never appealed. Hence the arrival of the RP due in part of its full frame, EVF and AF off the sensor.
As much as I’m enjoying mirrorless I can’t give up my DSLR’s.
I adore the look of the files from the 1div. It’s currently paired with the sigma 30mm EX 1.4. The colours are just gorgeous and I cannot replicate with either the 24mm stm on crop or the 40mm on full frame both those lenses give the approximate view as the 1div/30mm combo.

Details of firmware changes​

This firmware includes the following functional improvements and modifications.

1. [IBIS high-resolution shooting] has been added to the menu. By utilizing the in-body image stabilization mechanism, it is now possible to record images with higher resolution.

     To check the image, please use EOS Utility/Digital Photo Professional. EOS Utility/Digital Photo Professional needs to be upgraded.
2. Added [Save and read communication settings to card] to the menu. It is now possible to take over the network settings between cameras of the same model.
3. You can now trim and resize while transferring images to the FTP server.
4. Added "Image Protect" when transferring FTP to the menu. You can now automatically attach protection to images that have been transferred by FTP. This allows you to determine whether the image has been FTP transferred or not.
5. Fixed a minor bug.

Like with the new R3 1.4 update that was also released today no AF improvements from Canon R6 Mark II

But R8 does have a full frame 24Mp sensor. If you're referring to the fact the RP had a 26Mp sensor, I wouldn't call it a blatant error. The RP had a full frame sensor, and the number of megapixels in the RP doesn't really matter for that particular review.

Summary:
* Cameras cost money.
* Nobody else gonna buy you a camera.
(not the government, CEO, shareholders, copier division, or other customers)

Therefore:
You gonna have to buy you a camera.

I've always switched the function of the 'AF-ON' button and the 'AE-L' [*] button on all of my Canon bodies that have both so that the thumb stretch to use back button AF is less.

Well, I suppose they've been working on the RF mount probably for years now, so I'd say yes.

The R5 is almost 3 years old and lacks many of the AF features that are included in more recently developed Canon cameras like the R7. So, the R5 firmware update will likely give the R5 the same AF features that the R7 already has. The R7 is 9 months old. What new features do you think Canon has developed in that time?

Yea, I keep hoping to see a firmware release for the R3 adding major things too.
