Pergear has launched new and aggressively priced CFexpress type B memory cards

Canon RAW Light and Cinema RAW Light are different,
correct. Raw light is only for full width ie for 8k.
You can see the IPB (light) options for 8k IPB, 4K/60, 4k/30, HD/60, HD/30 etc.
Am I missing something?? If so, what is the codec used for the compression?

Venus Optics announces the first two Cine lenses with 2x magnification for Super35 and Full-Frame

T2.9 is probably F2.8 (or a little faster.)
2x macro lenses that focus to infinity aren't that common.
That's true.

I have their 15mm macro lens that focuses to infinity, and can give an interesting look for a macro shot with a LOT of the background in focus too....interesting images with that one.

Canon to build new semiconductor lithography manufacturing facility

This video also gives a better perspective into how ASML won the lithography race:
Interesting video but it doesn't really address who are Canon/Nikon's current customers and why they still have a toehold in the current market. They could be selling to China as ASML isn't able to for instance. I was intrigued to discover than basically all the ASML lithography machines ever made are still in use and maintainable. That is remarkable.

Anyone know who makes the stacked/BSI sensor chips - is it just Canon and Sony?
I would assume that Canon does its own lithography for them so in that respect they would be a leader in that niche. I wonder if they sell the lithography machines to Sony :)

It seems that the only other stacked chips in production are memory chips

7Artisans launches the 4mm f/2.8 Circular Fisheye for the EF-M mount

Is there any reason this wouldn’t work with an EF to R adapter?
EF-S lenses had the long SLR film-to-flange distance (I think 44mm?) and just need a spacer adapter to fit on RF (I think 20mm?)
In contrast EF-M lenses from the M line of interchangeable-lens mirrorless cameras had a film-to-flange distance of I think 16mm, anyway, shorter than the RF. You can't really make an adapter that lets you mount the lens closer than the RF flange as it'd have to "reach into" the RF camera bodies. That's not a technical impossibility but the entire lens would have to stick into the RF body and while the mount is big, I'm sure it's too small to allow any EF-M lens to be sunk into the body, and therefore such an adapter couldn't be made.

ProGrade launches new high-capacity Gold Series CFexpress Type B memory cards

Those are the older (and more expensive) versions of their Gold range and are available now or in some cases sold out. Note there is no mention of a 2TB card. The newer version has the same basic specs but was significantly cheaper. Their website is a mess, if you look at the Overview page, they show 4 verisons of the "Gen2" Gold cards, two with the higher 400MB/s minimum write speed but you don't know which one is being sold and if there are other differences.
I asked ProGrade and they said 'the item is not available for the moment'

Venus Optics officially announces the Laowa 58mm f/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO

There is the option to use a automatic macro rail, sadly not a cheap one.
And as you get toward macro range, you are likely not to want to move the focus, and change magnification, or rather set the magnification with the focus ring and then move the camera to focus on what you want. That becomes even more important with stacking. I'm not likely ever to need a motorized rail, but I can imagine how that might be handy.

PRO-4000 printer is putting out bizarre color aberrations

I've always been afraid of getting a printer for this reason. Sadly I'll just keep using labs :( Hope you find the issue!
Bristol Tn Boudoir Photography
I really didn't want this post to be something to dissuade anyone from doing their own printing if they can swing the initial cost. Because, yes I am having some issues right now, but I owned a PRO-1000 before this since around 2017 and it was great, and I have had this since I think 2019 and it has mostly been very good.

Not only that, but seriously the ink and paper costs doing it yourself are somewhere around 10-20% of the cost a good photo lab would charge. So even if you encounter issues, honestly you can screw up multiple prints and still be ahead of the cost of doing it at a lab. I also was just never super happy with the results I was getting from a lab. Sometimes it was almost good, but I really like having the control over everything myself, and being able to make my own call about when I want to do a re-print, compared to getting something from a lab and accepting it even if it's not quite what I want because I don't want to ask for a re-print for something that is so close to being good, but not quite.

Protecting cover / pouch for canon 24-70 2.8 MK II

The case I used with my 24-70/2.8 II was the Lowepro Lens Case 1W. A perfect fit with hood reversed, for that lens as well as a 24-105/4, 14/15/16-35 zoom(2.8 or 4), TS-E 17/24, etc. Unfortunately, many years ago Lowepro revamped their lens case lineup and changed to a centimeter size-based naming (e.g. Lens Case 9x13). There is no direct replacement for the 1W, with internal measurements of 10x12.5 cm meaning a 9x13 won't work with the hood. The next size up is 11x14, which is too big IMO – I like my cases to be an exact fit. If you're open to used cases, you can probably find a 1W for sale.
Definitely agree with this!

NiSi officially announces the NiSi RF 9mm F/2.8 lens for APS-C cameras

Oh, but Canon doesn't allow third part RF lenses.
Try again, but do make some attempt to do some research first.

The NiSi is a manual lens. Canon does not prevent anyone manufacturing or selling manual RF lenses.

Wex lists 23 Laowa RF lenses, 2 Samyang RF lenses and 3 Kipon RF lenses, including:

Samyang/Rokinon 14mm F2.8
Samyang/Rokinon 85mm F1.4

Kipon 24mm F2.4
Kipon 50mm F2.4
Kipon 90mm F2.4

Laowa 12mm Zero-D F2.8
Laowa 15mm Zero-D F2
Laowa 15mm Zero-D Shift F4.5
Laowa 20mm Zero-D Shift F4
Laowa 24mm Macro Probe F14
Laowa 25mm Ultra Macro F2.8
Laowa Argus 35mm F0.95
Laowa Argus 45mm F0.95
Laowa 85mm Macro F5.6
Laowa 90mm Macro F2.8
Laowa 100mm Macro F2.8
Laowa 12-24mm F5.6

Laowa 24mm Periprobe T14
Laowa 7.5mm Zero-D Cine T2.9
Laowa 25-100mm Cine T2.9
Laowa 12mm Zero-D Cine T2.9
Laowa 9mm Zero-D Cine T2.9
Laowa 15mm Zero-D Cine T2.1

Oh, and there are also 19 Lensbaby RF lenses.

... and of course, no less than 30 of Canon's own RF lenses, all with AF.

You're rather spoilt for choice aren't you?

Industry News: DJI to release the MAVIC Air 2s very soon

Absolutely right @Hector1970.
What a brilliant piece of kit. Can’t recommend the Mavic air 2 drone highly enough! I bought it from here and the ocusync 2.0 is phenomenal, I’ve no idea how it can be so good! At an ideal location, you can fly this thing 6km easily and you’ll have to turn around before losing signal because you won’t want to run out of battery! (At night you see this thing for miles due to its bright light so you can keep it in line of sight). I fly this out in the countryside with low interference or obstacles in the way, but even in built-up areas it performs seamlessly well, giving you clear footage from the drone - and will travel pretty far too, although I haven’t tested exactly how far.

Industry News: Lomography launches two new Instax cameras

I dunno about a tomography install unit, (except maybe the LomoGraflok 4×5 Instant Back back for use on LF view cameras)....but I've been eyeballing the quality install cameras from Mint,
Such as the InstantKon RF70

That thing looks like a way to get as much quality image on install film that you can in a still portable fashion.

Ah...so many toys, so little money....

canon lens query

I second what others have already suggested about taking a look at the 55-250 IS STM. If I was using a crop sensor camera and wasn't about to switch to full-frame, I think I would probably go for it over a 70-200, because the 55-250 IS STM is smaller, lighter, cheaper, I think the range would probably be more useful for me (particularly at the wide end), and the image quality is pretty good from what I have seen of it (my dad has one). The 70-200s have better build quality, even better image quality (although you need to ask yourself how much better you think it is) and wider maximum aperture. Obvioualy, you need to decide how important those things are to you.

Need help with M42 to RF adapter (vintage Helios-44-2)

These thinner ones is definetly a EF-M42 adapter, not RF. The marking "M42-EOS.R" on this thinner adapter is a lie. The flange distance in RF mount is 20mm, EF is 44mm, so RF-M42 adapter should be 24mm thicker than EF-M42.
However, you are still able to use M42 lenses with this thinner adapter on EOS-R Cameras, but you need to use an additional RF-EF adapter.

Problem with R7

Sounds very similar to the issues my R5 and R3 have had. It has gotten a little better with each firmware release. Unless it occurs frequently I would not bother returning it. The next one might be worse. I’m reconciled to living with it. Sometimes just opening the battery door will reset it without having to remove the battery.
Yes. Sending it back after one freeze would be ridiculous.
