Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8 & Canon 5D Mark IV incompatible?

christianmacek said:
I have the same problem. Most the time the lens will not connect, if it does i have 4 dark corners. I have now turned off the eripheral illumination correction and it works (but not in all modes) and only if the lens can connect.

I have uploaded a sample image here (since I did`t figure out how to post photo in the forum: /null]https://kamera-verleih.ch/canon-tokina-problems-vignette/#iLightbox[postimages]/null

I guess I will have to sell my beloved Tokina and go for another alternative, even though I read that tamron and sigma also have some issues with the 5d Mark IV. Sine I rent out cameras, I have to have a lens that works all the time in all modes and settings.

Any idea for a good alternative in the same price range?

Maybe a bit more expensive, but you can’t go wrong with the Canon 16-35 f4 L IS (unless you need f2.8). You should be able to find it used for a good price. It is actually that good, that it’s new price is one of the most reasonable L-lenses.

Anybody else get this email message from canonrumors.com?

I don't think a 7D Mark III is coming in 2018 outside of a Q4 possibility. Again, I want to hear more from a few I trust before I [CR3] it.

I'd be absolutely shocked if we saw it in the first half of 2018.

Thanks for your clarification, admin.

I am one of those who, based on what many said or suggested, had started to believe - and at least hope 8) - that the 7D Mk III could come a little before the end of the 5-year cycle.

6D/5D and m42 screw mount lenses / focusing screens

Have fun! I like my old Mamiya-Sekor 55 f/1.4, has a different rendition, brings back memories. Also good for 6D are many Nikon AI and AI-S manual lenses. I enjoy using my dad's old 105 f/2.5 and tiny little 55 f/3.5 macro and my own eBay 50 f/1.2 AI-S lenses with adapter. You want a good Nikon F to EF adapter, not the el-cheapo.

KODAK and WENN Digital Partner to Launch Major Blockchain Initiative and Cryptocurrency, CRCoin Comi

Re: KODAK and WENN Digital Partner to Launch Major Blockchain Initiative and Cryptocurrency, CRCoin

That's the largest pile of buzzwords I've seen in quite some time.

...unless what they want to achieve is the possibility for anyone without registration with a centralized organisation to create a smart contract to license the use of an image, with an associated payment enforced by, and visible to everyone through, the contract in the block chain.

Sort of the inverse of The DAO.

Except, with the "open for registration to residents of..." says they aren't. So... pile of buzzwords. Too bad!

Buff WhiteLight X1600: paint inside of snoot silver?

Just ordered a second studio flash (have a Buff Einstein 640), a Buff WhiteLight X1600. Mainly for the uncoated tube to do UV reflectance macro. In order to control excess spill of harmful UV, I got a snoot, but that loses 3.5 f-stops. Snoots generally are black on the inside. Has anybody painted it silver? or glued aluminum foil on the inside? How much difference does it make? Just in case you wonder, I don't want to paint it white because of the ubiquitous fluorescent UV brighteners in white colors.

Canon Rumors Forum Update Coming Soon

I quick look at the macrumors site, which I've never been on until now, I can say that I prefer the recent posts layout? on CR. Perhaps it changes, or there is a way to change it on macrumors if I'm a member, but I like how on CR the recent posts actually shows the posts. I can read the posts with out going into the thread to read it.

I look forward to the improvements and want to thank you for trying to improve the great forum we already have here.

I think a lot of people like that. I'm going to assume (foolish I know) that if we can't set it up out of the box like that, there will be a solution already developed to allow us to turn on such a feature.

I wouldn't expect an update. Personally, I went with a hähnel Giga T Pro II trigger – does long exposures, interval shooting, and operates as both a wired or a wireless trigger. Vello has a similar one, I chose the hähnel for the smaller size of the transmitter (which unlike the Vello is small enough to conceal in my hand if I'm in a picture).
Seems like the Hahnel for Canon is discontinued:

Edit: Seems to be replaced by this:

Not small enough to conceal in hand anymore

Bummer. Granted, AA batteries are certainly more convenient than the coin cell in my transmitter and the oddball lithium battery in the receiver. But I'd still prefer the smaller size.

Canon EOS 7D Mark III to Have Slight Crop in 4K [CR2]

For the rumored video rates there is no need for CFAST cards. My guess is it will keep the 2 type of cards that 7D2 has and my only question is whether they will support the newer faster type of SD cards or not. An increase in High (mostly) and Low ISO performance, an even bigger buffer than 7D2's and a touch screen would be enough to make it awesome! (Just my opinion of course).

PR shots of Hollywood movies

Yep, There are photograhers who specialise in taking stills on set for publicity shots. Some are set up but a lot are during read-throughs and final pre-shoot sessions.

Thanks for clarifying. :)

I've just realised why shots straight from the movie couldn't be possibly used: 24p = blurred motion. Should have realised that from EXIF shutter speeds. Silly me. I wonder if HFR movies like Hobbit could do that.
I don't know the answer to your question but I do know The Hobbit had a dedicated stills photographer because I met him. He was sponsored by Tourism Australia to come back to Oz during a break in filming for shoots of some tourism products, including those of my wife's tour company. Very good photos too but we had to wait months for them!

Lensrentals.com Puts the EF 85mm f/1.4L IS Through The Machine Testing

neuroanatomist said:
I don't believe there's anything 'magic' (aka 'character') about the 85/1.2L II...the f/1.4L IS renders beautifully. Unless by 'character' you mean that nostalgic feel of focus-by-wire, the fact that you can enjoy a sip of coffee while the lens achieves focus, and the satisfying click of a lens hood that just pushes on instead of using the traditional bayonet mount. In that case, the 85/1.2 has character in spades. :)

Bookmarking this to use this same argument up when a proper new 50 comes out. :P

Some people will cling to their 'magic' and 'character' and they honestly may not be wrong -- beauty being in the eye of the beholder and what not.

But I'll take a lens that focuses before next Tuesday, is not FBW, has IS, and mops the floor with its predecessor sharpness-wise. The rendering of the 85 is f/1.4L IS seems terrific to me, but (a) I never shoot portraiture, (b) light falloff and bokeh isn't a high priority for me and (c) my livelihood doesn't depend on my output.

Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro Sample Images

I have a 5DSR and am a product photographer as well. I have been interested in the 135 but not sure if manual focus is a good choice for me. My main workhorse is the 100mm 2.8L lens and it is pretty decent. I also have a zeiss 50mm macro and I struggle with the manual focus. Tethered, I can use my laptop to focus and while sharp in live view, the actual photo is a touch soft. I also notice that if I turn off live view after focusing and depress shutter, I will not get a focus confirmation. However, if I then refocus with the viewfinder, I will get a focus confirmation beep. If I then, turn live view back on with the viewfinder manual focus and confirmation, it is blurry in live view. The viewfinder shot is always better focus in the actual shot then the live view focused image.

Do you notice any difference in manual focus between live view and viewfinder and do you have that same experience when comparing the two methods?

Canon EF 85mm f1.4L IS vs Canon EF f1.8

An 85 prime is a very handy lens.

I couldn't wait for the Canon 85 1.4 IS, so I bought the Tamron 85 1.8 IS, which has been a nice, sharp lens on my full frame bodies. No autofocus issues, thankfully.

I figured that I'd sell my trusty old Canon 85 1.8, but haven't. It feels really nice ergonomically on a rebel-class body. The autofocus is fast and quiet. It's reasonably sharp at F/2.2 and it acts like a 135mm lens does on a full frame body. You do have to use a fast shutter speed to avoid motion blur of course. I think it would make a nice indoor sports lens or longish portrait lens for crop sensor shooters.

“Less than 15 pounds and 16 inches length”

15 Pounds!

Most people wouldn’t carry that much in an entire backpack full of lenses with a tripod!
Most people don't work in a television studio!
But this lens does! Typically with cam on a pedestal.

The 50-1000 is actually designed for field work, not the studio.
