Backing up Cfast card on the go? Without laptop, phone or tablet?

Anyone have any input on what's the best way to transfer the data from CFAST card to a portable HDD without using laptop, tablet or mobile devices?

I currently only have one Sandisk 128GB Cfast card for my 1DX2 that can fill up so fast when recording 4k/60.
There are times when I couldn't bring my Surface Pro 2 or portable HDD on the job due to reasons.

Therefore I'm wondering what's the best way to backup the data on the CFast card on the go.

EF, RF, Trolls and Children

None of the folks who have replied with such anger to speculation regarding the future of EF has adequately explained their anger. The general reply is along the lines of "crazy talk." Fortunately there are patient CR members who clearly and logically explain why they aren't worried, why EF is still good to buy when needed now, and good products to hold for some years. And I do appreciate and thank them! Maybe I did get a little too worried about things happening too fast with the change from EF to RF (yes, I predicted a new mount with an adapter, as did many, many others). But I knew there would be a few more years of EF relevance, just not innovation. I never claimed EF would die a sudden-death, but that it would, upon the release of a new FF mirrorless, become a legacy tech, supported for a time, but not kept in the forefront of engineering and marketing.

I do not believe RF is a side line or a niche or a one-off or an experiment. I believe Canon is committed to making it part of their flagship pro and prosumer bodies. Wrong or right, people who believe something and explain themselves the best they can, people who have been members here discussing dozens of topics for years...We aren't "trolls." But people who call us such because we've scared the fish swimming in the aquariums of their minds are, well, not very pleasant. Maybe they are just stressed out in this big world of constant change. Who isn't? But if you click "Ignore" because a post has made you think, challenges your own view, wow, how sad that is even for a middle-school kid, much less an adult.

Interview: Understanding the Canon EOS R

HardwareZone had a chance to sit down with Canon executives and discuss the development of the Canon EOS R. They covered all the topics a lot of people seem to care about, like the omission of IBIS and the 1.7x crop in 4K shooting.

Why is there no in-body image stabilization (IBIS) in the EOS R?
Shoji Kaihara: We had to look at the balance of the entire camera, like the size and other aspects. Based on that, it’s not something we are able to include in the EOS R at this time. We are quite aware that there are pros and cons to that.
Why does the EOS R shoot 4k video with a 1.7x crop?
Shoji Kaihara: When developing the EOS R, we looked at all the hardware we had in the pipeline. When we look at the image processor and CMOS sensors that we have — we have restrictions, unfortunately, and that’s why we ended up with the 1.7x crop.
How...

Torso harness?

Guys, I'm sorry of this is the wrong part of the forum, but I don't know where it really belongs and you cinema guys probably have my answer. I'm a still photographer and am planning to initiate a concept of mine where the model will have to lean forward at possible extreme angles. So I am looking for an inconspicuous harness for the hips and/or abdomen (but no straps traveling down around the crotch. I need something (preferably white and very unobtrusive) that has at least two hook points in the back. I've looked online, but everything seems a little heavy duty to me and the models won't be suspended in air at all. They'll just be leaning forward at as much as a 45 degree angle with the cable tied off to something. You folks work in the cinema industry and I thought I would ask if you know a good place to look? Thank you very much for your help.

Galapagos questions

I made a post about this in another spot but it doesn't seem to be getting any hits. I an heading to the galapagos in a months time and while i already have a fair idea of what i will be trying to shoot i am wondering if anyone who has been there can give any ideas i may not have considered. The trip is an 8 day boat trip around the western and central islands so i won't have total freedom and will be working in the constraints of the tour itinerary. The biggest problem that will give me is it will be unlikely i will manage any golden hour stuff on land but so be it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What do you want in a 5DSR MkII?

I've been mulling over getting a 5DSr since they came out but have always held off thinking just a couple more features would keep me happier for longer. Anyway the primary reason for a high MP camera is I print on a 24" printer regularly so would take the 'hero' shots with one, 24"x36" prints really need more than 20MP, also I have a couple of thousand slides I want digitized and only want to do it once, however it's waited this long so I'm in no real rush on that.

Anyway there are a few things I'd really like to see in a MkII.

1/ On sensor ADC. I have the newer sensors and they make a difference, sometimes.
2/ WiFi. I like remote control and am looking forwards to DPP Express on the iPad.
3/ Illuminated buttons. I do a little night sky stuff and illuminated buttons would work very well for that.
4/ GPS. I've come to take it for granted since having it and it adds a nice search term.

What are you looking for in a 5DSr MkII?

San Francisco 10 years ago

I took this back in October 2008 with my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel XSi and the EF-S 55mm-250? I can't remember the exact cheap lens (though I thought the camera and lens were very expensive at the time) and it only reports that it was a 250mm focal length in PS. This was an 18 second exposure at f/5.6 (as fast as that lens got at that focal length) and ISO 100. It was right before sunrise. I was across San Francisco Bay in Marin. Not bad for a Rebel and that lens. So a cheap combo can yield nice photos. I'm sure what I have now would have done a better job. I like to believe that. Unbelievable to me how quickly 10 years has passed.
