Canon Pro-100 printer cleaning.

Got a Pro-100 printer with rollers that need cleaning -- it says "Open properties" and find "Maintenance" for cleaning roller, but I have no "Maintenance" label on menu...

I'm wondering if this requires a different update to drivers -- I began with Win 7 Pro, and am now running Win 10 Pro, but cannot find any icon to clean the rollers ...

Yes, I could maybe clean by hand, but would prefer to do the maintenance with proper software and procedures. It will run the inkjet cleaning operation, but not the roller cleaning.

Me = kinda tech dumb, so if you have advice, please make it low-tech :) Maybe a step x step process to find the maintenance app if it's available Thx B

Grandson, daughter, and my wife.

I'm no pro, but love to take portraits. My skills are rudimentary when it comes to post processing (so no retouching of skin) and not the best at setting things up. I have a very nice Sekonic light meter, but have never used it so my flash shots are guesses on the settings. All shot with the Canon 5D Mark III, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, and Flashpoint Streaklight 360ws (3 are no flash). I no longer have any Canon speedlites. With all that in mind, please be gentle ;) The wife is the 55 year old short woman.

Will Canon make a full size mirrorless crop camera?

Let’s assume that Canon releases the mirrorless FF camera within the next year, and it will be something like a mirrorless 5D or 6D-series. Will they do a crop sensor version as well? Something like a mirrorless 7D? The M5 and M50 are nice, but they really are too small for my liking, especially with larger lenses. Will it matter if they stick with the EF/EF-S mount for the FF or not? If they do, there will be three crop camera lens alternatives. What do you think?

What happens if Canon and Nikon enter FF mirrorless in different price points?

What happens if Nikon enters the market on one end of FF and Canon enters on the opposite, i.e. a pricey mirrorless D850 comes out around the same time as a modest mirrorless 6D2, or the D610 line is refreshed as a $1999 mirrorless setup while Canon puts out some $4k 5DS2 flavored mirrorless rig?

Curious to see (if Canon and Nikon don't enter the market with multiple price points right away) if people freak out that the first offering is all they are going to get and it wasn't the price point / feature set that they've wanted.

Would either company publicly reassure folks that 'this is just the first body and others are coming' or will they button their lips to get folks to focus their wallets on what is currently being released?

Comparison: Tamron 70-210mm f/4 Di VC,Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS II & Nikkor 70-200mm f/4 VR

HTML:
<iframe width="728" height="409" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/L7LP5m15iDM" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>The folks at DPReview have compared the Tamron 70-210mm F4 Di VC, Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS II & Nikkor 70-200mm f/4 VR to figure out if you would be happy with the Tamron offering over the great and more expensive Canon and Nikon branded 70-200 f/4s.</p>
<p>Comparing the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II to the Tamron 70-210mm f/4 VC was a pretty easy comparison, if you can afford it, the Canon is the much better lens. Interestingly, it wasn’t as cut and dry with Nikon, as the Tamron performed very favourably against the much more expensive OEM lens.</p>
<p><strong>From DPReview:</strong></p>
<blockquote><p>70-200mm f/4 zoom lenses may not get as much attention as their faster f/2.8 siblings, but for many photographers these lenses hit the perfect sweet spot of price, performance, and weight. This week, Chris and Jordan go to the Calgary Stampede with pro photographer Kyle Marquardt to shoot the Canon 70-200mm f/4, Nikon 70-200mm f/4, and Tamron 70-210mm f/4. Watch the episode to find out what they think.</p></blockquote>

First time to Europe

I know it is an annoying question but I just couldn't figure out what to choose for my forthcoming trip.

I am going to Amsterdam, Paris and Iceland for two weeks in late August.

I have a 7D2 with some EFS lenses 10-18mm, 55-250mm STM and Sigma 17 50 2.8. Plus the two Canon pancake lenses and the 50 1.8 STM.

I can also use my bro's 6D and his 17 40 and 24 105. (He bought a Sony A7 III recently and he can lend me his Canon gears with no complaint)

My own gears cover UWA to 400mm equivalent range. The 7D2 is slightly better weather-seal. Lenses are light-weight and they are quite sharp. I might just carry the two EFS lenses and bring the 24mm pancake as walk around. (Sigma is a bit heavy if I have to carry all of the lenses so I might skip it)

6D is better for lower noise but the lenses are relatively heavy and they won't cover the longer end. (I found that 6D creates better IQ than my 7D2.) Is 24mm of the zoom on a FF body wide enough for most shooting in Europe ? I can just add a 50 1.8STM for low light. Then it will be just one camera and 2 lenses to carry.

I have seen a post here may be years ago. Somebody just carried a 6D and 40 pancake to Italy (?) and the pictures are gorgeous. I might consider the same (or just the 24mm pancake on 7D2) if I have to travel really really light.

I shoot mainly stills and I can do some panorama stitches. But UWA will have some special effects.

Please share your experience.

The real limiting factor for megapixel count in sport bodys?

So far almost every sport camera kept the megapixel count to arround 20mp no matter if fullframe or aps-c.

Now with the 7d III slowly apporaching release im wondering what is actually limiting a sportsbody to go to higher megapixel counts.

Previously it was assumed that the megapixel count affects low light performance. The lower the megapixel count, and therefore the bigger the size of the photocytes, the better the iso performance.

Recently i came across some articles that discussed that the megapixel count only really affects the per pixel performance, but the overall iso performance of a picture, scaled to the same size, basicaly stays the same with increasing megapixels.

Thus it seems that the only limiting factor is data thoughput or perhaps sensor read speed?

Does anyone here have insight on this? could we, given current technology, however unlikly, see a 7d iii with 26 or 28 mp and about 12 fps while still providing an improved iso performance?

Sandbag suggestions for a light stand?

I want to attach an iPad to a light stand and I need a sandbag to make sure the stand doesn’t get knocked over. I have sand bags for my c stands but they seem too big and the legs of the light stand are not going to work with my current sand bags. What type of sand bag do you use with a light stand? It looks something like this

The Mess That is the Canon Full Frame Mirrorless Rumor Mill

It hasn’t been since the release of the EOS 5D Mark III that we have seen this many emails and bits of information flood our inbox, and it’s once again, extremely difficult to figure out what is real.
We’re going to backtrack/reset what we think is happening, based on information from trusted sources. For the record, we’re backtracking on things we’ve posted in recent weeks. I don’t like it, but it happens.
We do know that at least one (and likely two) mirrorless cameras have hit certain certification agencies, thanks to Nokishita for always finding those. We do not remember a single time that a certified product didn’t reach market, so rest assured, a full frame mirrorless camera is coming and according to the certification information, it’ll be a full frame 30.4mp camera.
The elephant in the room is when are these...

CPS loaner programer time frame

I had sent my 7D MKII in for repair. and afterwards I took Canon up on there offer to loan me a camera of choice to test. This is a great Idea. The 5D4 I asked for shipped on the 7/5 and arrived at 830 on the following Monday. I played around with it some but was not able to give it a great tryout. I only got 1 weekend to try and use. yeah i have all week but I work. then you have to have it boxed and shipped and sent back by the following Wednesday.
Then cost me 60.00 to ship back. well guess that better than the daily 80 loader fee camera stores offer.
Wish the shipping had been faster. I liked the 5D4 its Full Frame. but its not a 7D MKII. Maybe I will try and ask for a EOS1D next.. just save my $ for the return cost. But I wish they would have let me have it an extra week.

Just talking..

At Least Two Big White Lenses Coming Ahead of Photokina [CR3]

HTML:
<p>We’re told at least two new “big white lenses” are coming ahead of Photokina 2018. We’re not sure at the time of writing this what the new lenses will be.</p>
<p>Will we finally see the <a href="http://www.canonrumors.com/canon-ef-600mm-f4-do-br-at-canon-expo/">EF 600mm f/4 DO IS</a>?</p>
<p>We weren’t expecting new big white lenses until 2019, but we may be getting a year long rollout of updated supertelephoto lenses. Optically, I’m not sure how these lenses can get much better, but they could certainly use some weight reduction in light of Nikon and Sony’s lighter offerings with certain supertelephoto lenses.</p>
<p><em>More to come…</em></p>

Glasses on or off?

Hi Folks.
I am the “designated” photographer for a relatives wedding via the “you have lots of nice camera gear” method of selection! ::)
I have done a couple of friends / family weddings already but I find I dislike the no eyes behind glasses look especially as this venue the shots will probably end up outdoors with darkened lenses in their glasses.
Is it recommended to ask people to remove their glasses?
What if they wear glasses full time and you have never seen them without glasses, would that be weird?
What are people’s thoughts on this please?
I wear glasses full time but would not be bothered if asked to remove them, I had to for my passport after all! ;D

Cheers, Graham.

Wow, I’m seeing all these people view an opinion related question and not one opinion shared! :o ;D
I need to know your thoughts or “opinion” on this! ;D ;D Everyone has one right? ;)

How much DR is enough?

Once again, we await the rollout of a new fullframe Canon camera, so once again posts are peppered with speculation, opinion and information about "Dynamic Range", along with the magic nambers associated with it. And once again, some questions come to mind. Of course, the answers to these questions vary from person to person, so there are no right answers.

Is more DR always better? In some theoretical sense the answer may be yes, but my questions have to do with the practical value of more DR.

First, is there a level beyond which additional DR has no practical value?

Second, how much difference in DR is of practical value?

Third, what other features are important enough to be traded off against DR?

Crop lenses on FF cameras

If you have a third party crop lens that does not intrude into the camera body, you can use them on a FF body.

NOTE: if you use a lens that protrudes into the body, you run the risk of your mirror hitting the back of the lens and damaging your camera. DO NOT USE SUCH LENSES!

The three shots here are:

1) with a sigma 30F1.4 crop lens.... note the severe amount of vignetting. You could crop this image to a slightly wider field of view as on a crop camera.

2) With a Tokina 11-16 F2.8 lens at 11mm. Also a severe amount of vignetting, you could crop this image to a slightly wider field of view than a crop camera.

3) With a Tokina 11-16 F2.lens at 16mm. A bit of vignetting at the corners, but the whole image is usable....
